Hi friends,

I would like to suggest if we can have a common database file for the
group where an individual can list at the least - name, contact, skill
sets. Either I am impared to creating one such file or I am ignorant
enough, I could not do that myself. So, please, somebody's work shall
be everybody's delight.

BTW, I will be in Amdavad on January 20, 2009 Tuesday, and most part
of January 11, 2009 thru' January 22, 2009 in Vadodara. I will update
you more when I am also informative of any new developments in the
plan. I would like to have a small chit-chat with you all and I do not
have preference for coffee or tea or any insomnic drink, we can have
some. I would like to share my experience with you too (ofcourse, I
will not bluff unsolicitedly).

Take care,
Chirag

I think the above things can be done by including the information in the public profile of google groups.
Also they can be added as the signature as I do.

My SEM1 exams getting over on 5th Jan.
We'll try and meet.
If not face to face then via IRC (no coffee cost incurred then , :) )

Take care,

Hi Pratik,

Every person has some ingredients for all, some for some specific like-minded people. That's why I asked. Anyway, no sweat.

I am not die hard fan of Linux. I have no reverence for Windows either. These are just basic tools to solve complex problems. Both have different use cases in mind, and I don't mind using either or something wild like home made "rasmalaai". There millions of tools and applications which I refrain from using. I use the most common that my nears/dears use. So, I am on Yahoo IM: "patel.chirag". I am 33, but I assume back seat as I feel like uncle to majority of you when it comes to using computers/technology.

My specific interests: 10Gig Ethernet, DDR Infiniband and OFED, FCoE, Enea OSE/Embedded Linux/VxWorks, Visual C++ .net (for my pastime), MySql/PHP. Basically, I cherish HPC (super computers, well, almost), switching (any director class switch), telephony and SAN (storage) coding.

Wish you all the best for your exams. I remember first such day (1st sem exams) in year 1993! (For a Gujarati medium student, that was a bit scary beginning to college, but proved otherwise.)
Take care all,
Chirag

BTW,

I have some crack in brain which helps me forget things easily. One example: I already have "Take care, Chirag" as part of my signature and I always forget to update. Shall do it ASAP. Till then...

It is a great idea, we can have a wiki page for each member where they
can post stuff about themselves, qualifications, hobbies, other
interesting stuff...

I will ask my company to sponsor some space/domain things for this or
should we use 'free' wiki available..

Hi All,

I have enough space to host it, and it will be for years to come, consider hosting requirement to be satisfied ... just suggest a good domain name. With domain name we can just run our own list rather then depending on the google groups.

Samyak

Thanks a lot, Samyak.

But, I will prefer to stay at google groups for mailing list. Managing
own list is pain for mail list admins and many successful lists
operates on google/yahoo groups very well.

No probs with it, but you have to work hard to be on top of the some category listing ;p ...LOL ... on a serious note googlegroup is proprietory service and closed source though free. We can't twist the code at will !!!

Kartik, buddy,

I prefer chocolate milk or lassi. Will that be OK? :)

Anyway, I would like to propose that I have my own hosting at
http://rutmandal.info/ and if all agree, I shall cater a place for the
group wiki (or anything else suggested).

Take care,
Chirag

Hello Guys,
I am a silent member of this group and have been reading all the mails since I joined the group. Well, frankly speaking I am not at all good working with Linux but wanna start using it so I joined the group.
I would also like to contribute a little to the group. I have got domain name www.knowgeekz.info and I haven't hosted anything on that site. Space and database isn't a problem on my server as there is abudance of it. So if you guys want to use this domain and my server space then please let me know. I would be happy to start contributing.
I am also familiar with installing and basic customization of Drupal, Wiki, Joomla, etc.

Comments are invited.

Thanks a lot
