AdobePhotoshop is designed to edit pictures and has become the most used tool for professional digital art, especially in raster graphics editing. No matter for professionals or amateurs, Photoshop plays an indispensable part.

Among the widely used range, Photoshop errors may pop up to hassle users a lot, such as Photoshop not enough RAM error. This error has been complained a lot and then this post will focus on it to list possible causes and solutions.

Besides, MiniTool System Booster can work silently in the background to free trapped memory from apps that no longer need it. The progress just needs minimal system resources and the whole performance can be promoted.

Apart from optimizing RAM, this tool offers other features for file and system management in Toolbox. Ending memory-intensive background tasks may be useful to fix the Photoshop not enough RAM error. To do that, you can use Process Scanner to find and locate them and terminate the tasks one by one.

To uninstall Photoshop, you can go to Start > Settings > Apps > Apps & features to locate Adobe Photoshop from the installed apps. Then choose to uninstall it. Then go to the official website to look for the right version and follow to download and install it.

Photoshop is a welcome software used in editing graphics. It is troublesome when the process is stopped by the Photoshop not enough RAM error. The above methods can help you get rid of the issue. Come to try it!

I was using photoshop 2018. While I was trying to save one file after editing, it is showing this error "Could not complete the Save/ Save As command because there is not enough memory (RAM)." I clearly have 13 GB remaining in my C Drive. Now I can't save my file which I edited.

Yes, we recommend you to re-edit the registry and set Photoshop to automatically manage the memory. Please refer this article for detailed info: Error while accessing performance preferences - 'An integer between 96 and 8 is required.'

Brand new install of 2020 on a brand new machine and it is doing it.... serious lag. even trying to type text. Text either does not appear or appears after 2 minutes

16GB Ram, Huge HD so that should not be an issue.

Previously this fix resulted in another error, which required an integer between 96 and 8. Closest value inserted. "Could not complete your request because...". This was resolved after Photoshop CC 19.1.5 was released. So if you experience this error after having modified the performance, check that your version of Photoshop is up to date, or at least version 19.1.5.

Another temporary solution may be to close all unnecessary applications and functions that are currently using your memory. This should hopefully free up enough RAM for you to complete the Photoshop task.

Photoshop and other editing software are RAM hungry. You may also want to consider upgrading the total amount or memory that your PC or laptop has. Whilst 8GB should be enough for most users, if you are regularly using Photoshop, other photo editing softwares and video editing software then you will likely need at least 16GB, if not 32GB of RAM.

Also, you need to have a minimum GPU with DirectX 12 support and 1.5 GB of GPU memory, with the recommended requirement of a GPU with DirectX 12 support and 4 GB of GPU memory for 4k displays and greater.

If there are too many running programs or if some of them encounter problems, not enough memory will be available for running Adobe Photoshop. Therefore, we recommend using a RAM optimizer for Windows 10.

Sorry to jump in on this, however though I'm not getting that message and have tons of memory - I'm still having what may be a related issue Photoshop freezing on opening. The software loads and freezes. I cannot access Help - because as I said Photoshop in nonfunctional. The only way to get out of it is to use the task manager.

I had this same issue with the new 2023 version. Constantly freezing, wouldn't even load an artboard; saying I didn't have enough RAM which is a load because I have more than the recommended. Any past PS file I tried to open made the app crash. I had to revert to the older version to complete deadlines before reinstalling the 2023 version again and getting the same issue.

The only thing that fixed the problem was to head to open Photoshop, go to Edit>Preferences>Technology Preview>and check the box that says Older GPU (2016). As soon as I changed this it was working without issue.

I hope this helps you.

Did you see Photoshop not enough RAM warning when saving your images? In this article, we will tell you why this problem occurs and how to solve it. Below, we list some of the most effective and universal offloading methods that will solve the problem immediately without buying a new stick of RAM.

First of all, you must remember that Photoshop has high memory requirements. Keep this fact in mind when looking for a solution to a problem. Whether you're owning a Mac or Windows device, you should have at least 8GB of RAM to experience smooth performance. So, you can select the best laptops for Photoshop with 16GB to enjoy smooth operation.

Many users try to avoid paid subscriptions and get Photoshop CS5 free by downloading a torrent version. As a result, you may encounter "Not enough memory Photoshop" warnings while saving pictures or during other operations.

By downloading unofficial software from a torrent resource, you get a hacked version with damaged source code. You will neither be able to fix such an error on your own nor seek help from software developers. Over time, you will have other problems with the program. Moreover, using a pirated version is a copyright infringement and may result in fines.

Closing applications and features that are not currently in use may be a temporary solution to solve the problem that caused memory lack. You should stop only those processes that will not affect the operation of Photoshop services and your OS. These can be your game services and social messengers, currently useless utilities, VPN, browser. Close only the programs with straightforward purposes:

Don't forget that problems with the lack of RAM can arise when you create a 3D model or work with several files at the same time. This means that by giving more RAM to your software, you will get rid of annoying Photoshop not enough RAM issue. You need to change the set 70% allocated RAM to 100%. Below, you will see clear instructions on how to solve this problem:

Tip: By default, the program tries to use the optimal amount of RAM and not overload a computer. The system automatically determines the ideal RAM amount. If you greatly exceed the recommended value, then you will reduce the overall performance of your PC while running Photoshop.

If none of the above methods brought the desired result, you should make serious changes to your system. You will have to replace RAM, because you are supposed to use an OS not lower than Windows 10 Home, as well as a version of the photo editor not older than Photoshop CC 19.1.5 (released in June 2018). This edition has many RAM errors fixed.

Anyway, it's annoying to interrupt urgent image retouching work due to a Photoshop not enough RAM warning. You can also delegate the task to a professional image processing service while looking for a solution to increase your memory capacity among the best 8GB RAM offers. You will receive high-quality results very quickly. Plus, you will get a discount on your first order.

I have been having a recurring problem with Photoshop running out of memory to perform certain operations, particularly the Merge To HDR automated function.

Now let me state up front that I have TWO gigabytes of Matched RAM and have allocated 80% of it to Photoshop in Preferences. I also have no other programs running other than Photoshop and Bridge.

When I open five files simulateneously, each about 52 megabytes, to merge the program gets almost to the end of the process and then reports it cannot finish because it is out of memory.

Don't know what else to tweak next. I have had as many as 26 different files open on the desktop without a problem but it seems that Merge To HDR with far fewer files just causes it to stop.

And I am running a fairly high end Windows PC, with dual core processors running at 3.2 GHz.

Any ideas?

Firstly, if the percentage of RAM allocated to Photoshop is too high, both the operating system and Photoshop can swap pages out of RAM, causing slow performance in Photoshop.

I suggest you reduce the maximum amount of RAM to between 60-75%

See if that helps, or at least helps with the general running of PS.

However, it may be that you are having a problem with your scratch disk.

You may already be aware of the optimum configuration for scratch disks, but just in case.....

Photoshop uses virtual memory (scratch disk) when there isn't enough physical memory (RAM).

It stores some of the operations on this scratch disk (but doesn't actually do anything with them), until RAM becomes available.

If the scratch disk is too small or inefficient, then PS can cough and splutter.

Ideally, a scratch disk should be on a separate fast hard drive (at least as fast as your main drive) to which Photoshop is installed and, importantly, not on the same hard drive as the operating system and it's own virtual memory.

Otherwise they will be constantly competing for the available space.

The drive on which scratch is allocated, should have enough available memory, approximately 3 to 5 times more than the largest file sizes.

This drive should also be defragmented regularly !

None of this is specific to problems encountered when using Merge to HDR. I haven't used it. But it may help...

Give it a try (if you haven't already) and let us know.

Someone may come in with more knowledge of the process :)
