Rashid (ラシード, Rashīdo?, Arabic: راشد Rashīd[8] [9]), also known as the Turbulent Wind (乱流の風, Ranryū no kaze?, Arabic: رياح عاصفة riah easifa) & Soaring Eagle of the Desert (砂漠の空を飛ぶ鷲, Sabaku no sorawotobu washi?, Arabic: نسر الصحراء المحلق, nasr alsahra' almuhliq)[10] is a video game character from the Street Fighter series. He first appeared in Street Fighter V, serving as the main protagonist for the Street Fighter V series itself.[11] He is a laid-back, Middle Eastern fighter with an affinity for the latest technology.

Rashid has short black hair, light brown eyes, and a well-groomed beard. He also has a yellow-green eyepiece on his left eye which flashes briefly when he activates his V-Trigger. His head is adorned with a short white shemagh and a black agal. His outfit consists of a long white sleeveless trench coat with black straps at the center, tucked into a black sash. Underneath is a black sleeveless shirt, white military pants and black open-toed combat boots. He also wears black and dark grey battle wristbands on both of his hands. This outfit later became his nostalgia outfit in Street Fighter 6.

His alternate costume is a modern type of outfit, consisting of a dark gray short sleeve loose shirt with a big golden bear emblazoned at the left side, denim khaki pants, white sandals with a gold round in the center and black soles. He also wears a gray bandanna on his head, a long golden chain necklace on his neck, and a matching chain bracelet in his left wrist. His facial hair is longer.

His second alternate costume has him wearing only a purple vest with gold outlines, blue-green baggy pants with a red obi, and a scimitar on his waist. He is barefoot and wears a white turban with a red gem in the center.

In his playable appearance in Street Fighter 6, Rashid's white shemagh is now showing as a half-hat, revealing his short black hair in a wavy style with two long single fringe in each sides as his black agal now have gold designs.

He wears nothing beneath his short, black, silk robe with gold trim and gold embroidery along the opening and the baggy sleeves that reaches to his elbow. He also retains the black cross belt on his chest. His white sleeveless tunic has been worn loose and being tied in a black obi around his waist, Rashid also wears a pair of white, loose-fitting sirwal pants that stop at his mid-calf, and black and gold leather boots with sky blue designs on his soles. He also wears a matching black and gold leather fingerless gloves.

Rashid's second alternative costume in Street Fighter 6 is a stylish athlete player. He wears a bright neon green with grey and black accents on his cap, shades, sleeveless top, and thermal sleeves.

Rashid is an easy goer with a laid-back attitude, he has an affinity for any kind of the latest technology especially the internet as well as other new things. Though he is very relaxed, Rashid has a great thirst for adventure and will fly into any situation with reckless abandon. He likes to make friends with other people he meets and will rarely take battles seriously unless it's against a great opponent (like Dhalsim). Rashid can also mistake certain people as his relatives, as he mistook Zangief for his grandfather and his servant, Azam. He is always with Azam in during his travels, in which Azam often tries to keep his master's antics in check but fails.

Similar to Dan Hibiki, Rashid can be very goofy at times; he referred to Ryu as "That guy from Twitter" and his encounters with Zangief and R. Mika are very humorous. He also hates to be ignored by other fighters. Despite his goofy antics, Rashid is genuinely a very kind and incredibly heroic person, jumping on to rescue Li-Fen from two guards despite the girl being in no danger and he is also selfless as seen when he stopped Urien from killing Charlie.

The only time where Rashid has been seen completely serious is during the final confrontation against F.A.N.G after the latter reveals that he killed Rashid's friend. Rashid dubs him a "murderer", brutally punches F.A.N.G around with his wind powers and even threatens to kill him, but holds back when F.A.N.G is knocked down.

In Street Fighter 6 during his story, Rashid enjoys being a vlogger where he takes videos with his cellphone camera or a drone camera to take videos in his fights with the other fighters. The only exception to his antics was his fight with Ryu ever since he had lost to him during his and Ryu's character story in Street Fighter V.

The creation of Rashid was a close collaboration between Capcom Japan, Sony, and Pluto Games (Capcom's officially licensed distributor in the Middle East region).[12] Katsuhiro Harada, the producer of rival fighting game series Tekken, also encouraged Yoshinori Ono to include a Middle Eastern fighter in the Street Fighter main games.[13] An early design had Rashid nearly resembling a cyborg.[citation needed]

According to Street Fighter V director Takayuki Nakayama, Rashid was intended to be the new main character. This is one of the reasons his outfit's color is white as the developers wanted to draw a comparison between the "squeaky-clean, modern" Rashid (which is also the reason he wears his gadgets), and the "old fashioned, dirty-white-clothes" Ryu.[14] Rashid was meant to have a moveset based around a run with six followups similar to El Fuerte, however it was felt that it became too complex for a main character, resulting in his moveset being more well-rounded with the followups being added to the rest of his techniques.

Rashid's burly traveling companion, Azam, represents a more traditional take on Middle Eastern fashion, and only got his name after Capcom passed on assigning it to Rashid. The original plan was to give Rashid an easily searchable, top-of-the-alphabet name, but ultimately Nakayama preferred the resonance of the moniker Rashid.[14]

Rashid is his master. They have a very close relationship and he follows Rashid nearly everywhere he goes. Although there are several times Azam scold Rashid, when the latter got carried away on his bizarre live streaming antics as a FooTuber.

During Street Fighter V, both Rashid and Azam first met Ryu and his master, Gouken when the young Japanese martial artist is currently trying to find a way to purge the Satsui no Hado from his body. He and Ryu also fought alongside other participated World Warriors in a final raid at Shadaloo's last base during A Shadow Falls storyline, with Rashid saving the Earth, and Ryu permanently killing M. Bison thanks to Charlie Nash's sacrifice.

Rashid is the eldest son of an old aristocratic Middle Eastern family who's traveling the world in search of a missing friend who was kidnapped by Shadaloo. Rashid's family lost their lands to one of the Secret Society's ancestors by night, which then led by Gill as of the present.

Prologue - 'Embarkation' Rashid is eating in a Chinese restaurant with his servant, Azam, discussing how his friend gone missing and how Shadaloo is involved. One of his friends online tells how he recently saw a man with the Mark of Shadaloo walking around, to which Rashid rushes and leads to Birdie. Rashid questions Birdie about where the Shadaloo base is located, and Birdie responds with a fight. Rashid wins the fight and proceeds to ask Birdie about Shadaloo, to which Birdie responds that he left. Rashid then explains that his friend was working at the S.I.N. lab before disappearing. When Birdie rude-fully dismissing the person, he finally opens up when Azam starts to question him. It is never revealed what Birdie had told Rashid and Azam.

He later talks to his friends online again and one of them, a person named Maya (Crimson Viper), tells him to fight Ryu in order to see if he can take on Shadaloo. She gives him the coordinates to his location and also warns him to not get heavily involved with Shadaloo.

Rashid and Azam find Ryu (who is with Gouken), as the former introduces himself as a hero who travels the world. Gouken wonders why a hero like Rashid comes here. Rashid wants to test his mettle by challenging Ryu; he takes a fighting stance but Ryu does not jump into the fight. Rashid finds this odd as sources have stated that doing so will cause Ryu to immediately fight. He asks Ryu if he's not up to fight, to which Ryu accepts his challenge.
