Ihave many good Windows fonts installed on my PC (Windows 10). These fonts are not being accessed by Photoshop. After looking through the help forums here and through my settings in Photoshop, I can not enable these fonts. The fonts work fine in other programs. Why does Photoshop not see them? Very aggravating!
None of my Windows fonts show up of over 200 of them - they are installed into Windows and work fine with Windows programs. In the past, Photoshop would access them automatically. Do I have to reinstall them into Photoshop somehow? For example, every TrueType font I own.
I used the cleaner tool and reinstalled my Adobe programs but none of my Microsoft fonts are showing up in any of my Adobe products. I'm trying to use fonts that are working fine in Word and PowerPoint, such as Garamond and Century Gothic, to create graphics for a presentation but they aren't available to use.
I thought I would share my two cents. I ran into this problem. My solution was choosing to "Install for all users" and not simply "Install" when right-clicking in Windows to install the specific font.
HI All, I recently purchased all three programs and moved to Windows 10 OS. I have a new PC so I'm starting from scratch - installing fonts onto my system.
I'm still using Adobe CS6 products while I transition to Affinity,
I have a lot of print files (Magazines, Ads, Flyers etc.) which use specific fonts that I have to continue using so in order to move I have to be able to access the font files in Affinity.
I use FontExpert to manage installs but I have also tried installing directly to Win10 fonts folder.
The results are quite random. I get a different (Limited) selection of installed fonts each time I open a program - and never the full range of typeface options (Light, medium, regular, bold etc)
Is there a setting I am missing to activate the installed fonts?
I spoke too soon.
Opened programs 3 times today and each time I got a different list of newly installed Helvetica. (OTF and Type 1)
The windows system fonts always show up but the installed fonts vary.
See attached images.
In Windows Fonts folder under 'Font Embeddability' some files show as Editable and others Installable - both are accessible in Adobe software
but only the Editable are consistently shown in Affinity programs. The Installable fonts are the ones that appear randomly - so is it a Windows issue or Affinity?
The installable option on the font refers to how it can be embedded into a document and how the font is handled on another computer without the font when the document is opened, Installable - Allows fonts to be embedded in the document and installed permanently in the computer while Editable - Allows fonts to be embedded in the document but only installs fonts temporarily in the system.
Thanks again for your response. The Font settings box was unchecked so all fonts are visible as I understand it .
Strangely some fonts I tried to hide in the fonts folder (accessed through Control Panel) still showed up when accessed through - Settings > Personalization > Fonts.
Opened up Affinity today and fonts have gone from list again. Still showing in Windows Fonts folder though.
Am I the only person with this problem. The entire font list shows up in Adobe s0 I'm not sure if this is a Windows issue or Affinity?
I have not seen any other posts from other user having a similar font issue on Windows, can you please confirm that you are running the current 1.7.2 build and can you please install the Affinity Designer 1.7.3 beta using the link below and let me know if the fonts are also missing from this version.
I am using 1.7.2 as below. I was using Font Expert with Adobe CS6 but I uninstalled recently.
CS6 has developed all sorts of problems running on the new system with Win 10 - missing palettes, and many other issues.
So I'm really keen to shift to Affinity.
I've noticed that a window opens occasionally saying 'new font added to cache' (or something like that)
This happens without any instruction from me - I'm not installing a font at the time.
Could Affinity suite be losing fonts from the cache after a PC shutdown? Because everyday seems to be a different list.
There was an issue that should have been fixed in 1.7.2 where we seemed to be limiting the number of font objects that Affinity could see. I believe this number was 9,999. You haven't reinstalled the 3rd party font manager have you?
Further to this topic, Affinity Designer seems pretty slow dealing with new font installations whilst running, locking up for quite some time with the ""font added to cache" message displayed This is on a Win7 installation with a font manager called Typograf, which is kinda dodgy, but I'm comparing the speed of reaction to AI CS6, AICC and CorelDraw on the same system.
There are 282 fonts in the folder. Most of them are fonts that came with Win 10.
I bought a new PC a couple of months ago and I have been gradually installing fonts as I need them for client work.
Trying to keep the new system clutter free!
I have set some of the system fonts to Hide - but they still show up in Designer? Which is annoying because I have to scroll through a lot of fonts I never use.
The hidden fonts also show up in Adobe Illustrator so can't complain about that I guess.
Just noticed another strange thing. I have installed Flexo Heavy, it's the only style I own.
It showed up on the list as Flexo and Flexo Medium, but only the Heavy style was available? See below...
Affinity will not display faux fonts or synthesize styles so this may be why some weights aren't showing up. This is an intentional decision made by the developers as faux fonts can cause other issues.
This doesn't explain why your font selection appears to be random. It may be worth making a copy of your font folder, zipping it up and then sending it to us privately. We have to be very careful due to licensing etc. so we handle this type of thing with care. Let me know if this is something you would like to proceed with so we can create a private folder for you to upload the fonts into.
Thanks Chris. I'd be happy to send the fonts. There are a lot and I don't intend installing all of them in the future.
Many are Adobe fonts from 20 years ago - most of them still install and work in CS6.
But if you don't mind checking them out I'll send all. Cheers.
It looks as though the PFM and PFB files (that are both required) are unable to copy/paste/install into the Fonts folder and I'm struggling to figure out why. I hadn't spotted that they were not included in the mass paste I did. So I'm actually missing quite a few...
I have probably copied these files onto at least 5 PC's over the last 20 years. Originally I had them on a disk but the last time I copied from a flash drive.
My last PC, I only installed from the Type 1 file through a font manager or direct from the Win 7 install.
I installed the Google Roboto font family in Windows 10 and the fonts all show up in Word, Open Office, and other text-based apps. However, I can't seem to get them to show in TouchGFX, despite reboot, restart, etc. All other Windows fonts show in TouchGFX selection typography. Also placed the license.txt file in assets/fonts with no luck.
I am working on a Mac using Parallels. I need to use Helvetica font (installed on my Mac). I coverted the font to ttf from ttc and installed it on Windows 10 (running under Parallels). The font is installed - I rebooted windows and closed storyline but the font doesn't show up. Any recommendations?
I have a similar issue. I need to use HelveticaNeue LIGHT but SL360 only shows a generic HelveticaNeue in the font list.
Windows font library shows that HelveticaNeue has 9 faces, including LIGHT. So, please can someone tell me how do I access the individual faces in SL?
Onlyoffice (downloaded from your official site) and my system are installed on C: (i have multiple drives).
My fonts are in C:\Windows\Fonts and they are visible in other text editors. But they do not appear in the fonts dropdown in OnlyOffice document (or any other OnlyOffice editor).
Same problem.
App: ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors version 7.1.1.57 64bit (updated regularly from some older unknown version).
PC System: Windows 10 Pro 21H2, i7 CPU, 32Gb ram.
Followed guide here.
Installed this font as per guide.
Closed program, font did not appear in dropdown list. Rebooted, font still did not appear.
Font appears in ALL other applications currently installed!
I uninstalled app and checked delete all settings then reinstalled the app.
Still no new font
I created a docx document in LibreOffice Writer with text using new font and saved document. I then opened in OnlyOffice Editor but text is displayed in default font. Font name appears in dropdown list window but disappears after changing font?
Works in MS Word, LibreOffice, OpenOffice, Softmaker Textmaker.
Font problem also exists in spreadsheets.
I found the issue or at least how to get the program to see new fonts. When you open c:\Windows\Fonts or control panel/fonts and either drag the font file into the folder or open the font file and click install, the font file is actually installed/copied to c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Fonts. If the font file is copied to c:\Windows\Fonts using admin shell, then it appears in the dropdown!
Anyone who has ever tried installing fonts in windows 10 knows that microsoft have managed to make it a complete and utter nightmare, where you spend days trying to find out why the font you want hasn't installed, and when you try to install it again you are told it is already installed, and when you finally manage to view the file (in dos cmd prompt), it has created multiple copies which are all impossible to delete because "they are being used by another process".
I have a client who has changed two of their fonts. I downloaded the new fonts, and tried to install them in windows. There are three varients of one font, and five of another. I have FINALLY managed to get windows 10 to see 2 of one and 4 of the other. Word can see these fonts, so I do know they are installed, they are not just in the folder. And they are all definitely TTF fonts.
