Hi,
Since you mentioned the IRS, I would suggest that the first thing you
do is make sure your business finances and personal finances are kept
separate. That means a separate business checking account and business
credit cards.
As for setting up the business, think about whether you want it to be
a sole proprietorship (which is the easiest form) or a corporation or
limited liability company. You can read the basics of these legal
structures on FloridaSmallBusiness.com

Next, you'll need to file some forms. Your local city or county will
probably require a business license (also called an occupational
license) and, unless you decide to set up your business as a
corporation, you'll need to file a fictitious name registration with
the Florida Department of State. Here are some details about these
forms and others:

I'd also suggest that you attend a workshop on starting a business at
the Florida Small Business Development Center nearest you. The SBDCs
are non-profit organizations at many Florida colleges and
universities. They are supported by the U.S. Small Business
Adminstration and they offer one-on-one counseling and inexpensive
workshops, typically $30 to $45. Here's a link to find the SBDC
closest to you.

Good luck with your new business!
