I need some help ! It appears that Podium is not up to supplying our
needs, or not interested ! So we are in the market for a new custom
clothing supplier but there are literally hundreds to chose from. To
list a few of the popular ones-Champion Systems, Hawk, Hincapie, Louis
Garneau, Pearl Izumi, DeSoto, Castelli, Girodana, Panache, Sugoi etc
etc. For many years I have used ASSOS shorts but they don't do custom-
my favorite non ASSOS piece is Castelli who does do custom. Seems to
be significant range of costs and quality. Some like Champion have on
line order system which makes coordinators job a whole lot easier.
Almost all have minimums usually around 10 pieces. Delivery seems
similar 6-8 weeks once order is finalized-stuff made in China, USA,
Italy-you name it.

So anyone got any feedback-clothing you love-or hate-other teams stuff
you have heard good or bad about. I would propose we retain almost
exactly the same look and design as we currently have-unless loud
voices speak up in dissent- so art work is pretty simple-just copy
what we have-of our current sponsors-Green Bank, Sinibaldi Insurance,
Steven's Roofing and Red Sauce restaurant the first 3 are confirmed
for next year and discussion is on going with Red Sauce.

Goal is to have designs approved by chosen supplier and fit kit on
hand for AGM on Jan 19th and to have money collected or paid and order
finalized and placed by Jan 31st so clothing should be here by mid to
late March.

Would you rather spend more for top quality??

Looking for some help here-if I don't get it then you will have to
live with what I chose !!!!!

Dave, I'm working with Gearlink and Jared Zimlin right now on modifications
to their kit design. They use Canari for their kits and I asked Jared what
they think of the supplier and who the contact person is. I'll let you know
something when he gets back to me in a bit. Secondly, I have several Hawk
racing kits, they seem to hold up ok and they don't have huge minimums. Jeb
Stewart uses them for his Endurofit Kits. I can help with all this if you
like as a support role for the design and vendor development.

I know someone who uses Veloce and is very happy with them. My preference in clothing (esp. bibs and shorts) is LG because of the comfort band on the quads.

champion get decent ratings.
http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=3659702;search_string=team%20clothing;#3659702

these are not recent posts, i could post the question and see what we get.

one to consider is DeSoto. they have a really good rep in the triathon
community. good quality and great customer service. However, they will
not be low priced, they are higher end.
i'm guessing Hincape is the same.

Let me know if you want me to contact them. Not that i have any pull
but i've dealt with them before.

I have both Hincapie and DeSoto shorts and while both are ok I find them always at the bottom of my choices to put on-just don't fit-both very high cut in front-spoiled by ASSOS I guess.

Dave,
Hawk Racing, This is the company I sent u last night. Endurofit (Jeb) uses them, look like nice kits, and they like the fit. I like the idea of a sort of local company, would be worth a trip over to check out the stuff too, I think.

absolutely no white shorts!!!-at least not in area you sit on-still just dreaming of basically exactly same look we have now so white won't be issue-talking to Canari as we speak and have inquiry out to Hawk Racing.

orange was deliberately picked as a "Florida" color and I would vote against changing it-part of what is now our "look"-but then I am just one vote so everyone can speak up and majority rules-just bare in mind if we make any noticeable changes to "look" then you are really killing off all the clothing members (and Club) have already bought!

Art-re Voler-I had one of their skinsuits-ok qualitly but had hoped we would be bit more upscale from them but I will put them on my list of possibles-have spoken with Canari, Hawk and Castelli so far (Podium is not responding but I tried-twice)-Castelli is by far best quality as I can judge it and costs way more-Hawk is out of Tampa, got good recommendations from several riders and seems keen, Canari is quick to respond and seems on par with Hawk in terms of quality-I am going to try to get samples from each of them and try to figure out who will be best to work with but tough process with no guarantees.  Champion Systems also in mix-haven't contacted them again but they did our very first jerseys so we already exist with them-big company-no fooling around-just place order, approve art work and wait for clothes.
Any suggestions or anyone with friend in the business greatly appreciated

I like the orange color (although I realize that it is not for everyone).  The kits are very distinctive, and instantly recognizable - which isn't easy in a sea of multi-colored jerseys in a big group of riders.  I also second not making dramatic changes; nothing sucks worse than having perfectly serviceable kits that are no longer appropriate because the club/team decided to make radical changes.

As always, though, I'll defer to the group's decision.

I agree with John, Dave, and several others - the kits we have are distinctive and I have easily picked them out at a variety of rides...
I only own 1 jersey so I am far less vested in the current design - but still like it and would prefer to see it continued.

I am the least experienced with the mfgs of these items - but here are other thoughts -

I own a lot of Canari and would rate it as good, economical - not great...
I would put Pearl Isumi (now Shimano) well above Canari and (if they do custom) would think they might be worth the investigation.
I like Sugoi, have owned just 3-4 tops but like them for fit and comfort.

Like everyone else that has chimed in - will be happy with whatever is decided

I know the Shimano/Pearl Izumi rep personally ("Big" Jim Marshall), and I can confirm that they do, indeed, do custom.  The Pinellas County Mid County Cyclists group all got custom Pearl Izumi kits, and they're really nice.  I know nothing about ordering, etc., but certainly can get with Jim to find out how to get them in the fray as well.

I too like the orange and like the distinctiveness of the design.
Also a fan of the Pearl Zumi/Shimano option. Defer to what is best for the racers in our group, I am sure whatever gets picked will work for most of us.

While orange is not my favorite color (nor does it match my helmet) I proudly wear it because it does set apart from the other popular color schemes. As a matter of fact, I picked one out just yesterday in the middle of another group ride coming my way --- Frank Teachout was flying the FM colors and it was very easy to tell he is one of us!

I have lots of Pearl Izumi from socks to jersey and all inbetween and they have a life-time warranty. I don't know if they do custom but the quality of their products and warranty are superb! Regards, Rosie

John,

I think it would be great if you could get them into the fray.  I've always been a big fan of Pearl Izumi because of there quality, options and sizing.

Hope all is well.
