Temperatures below freezing are likely Saturday from 3 am through 9 am est
as another cold airmass moves into the region in the wake of a frontal
passage.
Even colder temperatures are expected to filter over the area for long
durations of subfreezing temperatures Saturday night through sunday morning
and again late Sunday night through Monday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions,
A freeze warning is issued for 3 or more hours of temperatures between 27
and 32 over a widespread area.
Residents should cover or move indoors any cold sensitive plants, and bring
pets indoors.
A hard freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible. These
conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

Saturday morning and again Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions,
A hard freeze means temperatures are expected to drop below 26 degrees for
more than five hours. These conditions will be a threat to the lives of the
elderly and homeless who have no heat during this period of unusually cold
weather. Area residents and agencies are urged to make final preparations
for these freezing conditions including checks on the elderly and provisions
for the homeless. Area shelters should continue to expect increased demand.
Outdoor pets should also have adequate warmth.
Everyone should take adequate safety precautions with their heating systems,
and make sure to utilize carbon monoxide detectors in enclosed spaces. Extra
caution should be used with portable space heaters. Make sure space heaters
are not left unattended and are not used near flammable materials such as
curtains or bed coverings.

A strong cold front will move through the region today, with another shot of

ANOTHER BLAST OF ARCTIC AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA TODAY AS A COLD FRONT
ADVANCES ACROSS THE AREA. TEMPERATURES ARE FORECAST TO DROP INTO THE MID TO
UPPER 20S EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. THE COMBINATION OF VERY COLD TEMPERATURES
AND SUSTAINED NORTHWEST WINDS NEAR 10 MPH WILL DROP WIND CHILL VALUES INTO
THE UPPER TEENS TO LOWER 20S FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD, THUS A WIND CHILL
ADVISORY HAS BEEN ISSUED.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS:

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS WILL COMBINE

Wind chill advisory in effect from 10 pm this evening to noon est Saturday,
The NWS in melbourne has issued a wind chill advisory, which is in effect
from 10 pm this evening to noon est saturday.
A cold front, pushing toward lake and volusia counties late this morning,
will continue southward through all of east central florida by sunset.
Another surge of arctic air will spill southward into central Florida behind
this boundary. Temperatures are forecast to fall into the lower 30s across
lake and volusia counties, and in the mid 30s to upper 30s from interstate 4
southward to lake okeechobee and rural inland sections of the treasure coast
counties. The combination of cold air and brisk northwest winds of 10 to 15
mph will produce wind chills ranging from the mid 20s near the ocala forest,
to the upper 20s and lower 30s around lake okeechobee and the treasure
coast.
It is noteworthy that the advisory will remain in effect through noon
Saturday. Temperatures are expected to remain in the 30s for all of east
central Florida through late morning, struggling toward afternoon highs only
in the lower to middle 40s. This means if you will be outside anytime
Saturday morning, you will need to dress appropriately for the cold weather.
Precautionary/preparedness actions,
A wind chill advisory means that cold air and strong winds will combine to
generate low wind chills. If you venture outdoors, dress warmly in layers
and make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
