I just passed this on to about 100 people all around the country, not many of them Nation readers.
UK Uncut had been percolating in the outer rings of my awareness for a few days, without really arriving. Thanks for finally making a good idea hatch for me.
It has been clear for some time that the tea party movement has wrapped in many people who could as well be progressives. Of course, many are hard-line right-wingers or bought by billionaires and not suitable. But some substantial portion are simply affronted by unfair government, unfair tax practices, hypocrisy in foreign relations and other typical behavior by corporate-run politicians and the military-industrial complex, and they are candidates for inclusion in grass-roots political action to set things right.
Rupert Murdoch is a prime example of what's wrong with our system, and he's a truly global character -- from Australia, wreaking havoc first on the media landscape in Britain, now a US citizen so he can do the same in the USA with Fox and other outlets, also active in the Far East requiring him to kowtow to China.
I'd say go after him and his interests. Someone should be talking with MMFA for ideas. Go after the advertisers. All of them.
(Sorry, computer, for hitting the keys so hard. It was making the little Twitter windows jump all over, so I'm stopping soon.)
For starters, we need a hashtag and a Facebook group. Probably #USUncut.
UPDATE: I see from a Twitter search that #USUncut already is in action and things are happening. Is there an Egypt in the works here?
