Ray::  I will forward your request to the Florida Group, but I wouldn't hold my breath if I were you...   I am thinking you may wish to look into the Bamboo "Sasa Pygmea", for your roof.    VERY low growing, almost like  lawn grass.      And there ARE others that could well do the job, that get a bit taller:: up to 3 feet or so, depending on the variety.  I am wondering if you are prepared to water it regularly::   seems to me, it would  dry out rather quickly in such an environment.

How much bamboo do you need?length and diameter.
