Whiteside Neighborhood: (31st to 41st Harvard to Yale) 4 pm on 05/22/2013 - 40th and Urbana - Two Caucasian male teens one was in a tie-dye hoodie and one was in a black/gray hoodie tried to open a neighbors front door. They were seen up at Eyemart catching a ride in a white van. The family was home when they came to the door.

05/21/2013 - Solicitation by a Caucasian man in a red T-shirt and jeans, soaking wet, with a small plastic bag in his hand. He said he was with CARE, and they were collecting for the victims in Moore.

5/21/2013 - Break-in, 1 pm , Three males, mid 20s, white newer car. They rang the door bell 2 times then kicked in the door. They were in and out in less that 10 minuets. I was able to get a picture of the car, 911 was called and given all the information. Alert Neighbor was given this information from a neighbor that was watching this happen.

I am going to strongly suggest that everyone go out and purchase "NO SOLICITATION" signs for your front doors.  If someone attempts to solicit at your home you can then call the Police number below and report them. 918-596-9222.

Notes from Amy Brown , Aide to Councilor Bynum: ( 3 attachments below ) Two are from the City on The Solicitation ordinance and the other one is from the City's Working in Neighborhoods department. There are some free seminars on Neighborhood Safety and Solicitation. All very good reads.
The Solicitation Ordinance  limits the hours solicitors may operate to 8am-7pm, and prohibits them from attempting to solicit at homes posted with no-solicitation signs.  Violators of the ordinance can be sentenced to a fine of up to $1,200 and/or imprisonment for up to six months.  If you witness a violation, you may report it to the TPD non-emergency line at 918-596-9222.

I have also submitted your request for additional patrols to TPD.  If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you,
Amy Brown | Council Aide
