Ok, I could have taken the easy way our and preached about
independence day and the freedom we have as a country, but decided to
go a different direction. I will be talking on the text from
Luke10:1-11 where Jesus is addressing the workers for the Lord. He
speaks about the large harvest that is out "there" and the behavior
one should have when entering the house of a possible convert. We are
to stay, eat, drink and rest there as long as the people there are
"peace people". But if you enter a town (not a house, but a town)
where you are not welcomed, you should shake the dust from your feet
and leave".
Several possibilities: how do we do evangelism when people are against
us? How do you tell if the house is a house of peace. How long do you
say (in our case, a few minutes, unlike the time frame Jesus
gives ....stay and do not move from house to house....) How do we
proclaim the gospel to a world hurting....and hateful at the same
time?
