Public Citizen and the Preamble Center for
Public Policy announce an open debate...

Globalization and The World Economic Crises:
Truth and Consequences

The Economic Crisis that began in Asia and
has spread to Russia and Brazil is now lapping
at the shores of Los Angeles. The time has come to
rethink free trade and economic globalization.
On December 3rd leading experts will debate what's
at stake for jobs, the environment, local business and
democracy.

Time: December 3rd, 7:00 pm

Place: UCLA campus, Kerckhoff Hall
Enter Campus at Westwood Blvd, past Le Conte.Stop at the Information
Kiosk, ask for a map and to park in Lot #6 ($5). Walk northeast to
Ackerman Student Union. The next building is Kerckhoff Hall. Follow
signs.

Panelists:

Lori M. Wallach, Trade Lawyer, Consumer Advocate.
Called "Ralph Nader with a sense of humor" by the Wall
Street Journal, Wallach has run Public Citizen's Global
Trade Watch since 1991. She was a key player in the
defeat of "fast track" trade authority by Congress.

Mark Weisbrot, Ph.D., Economist, has published
extensively on global economics with Preamble and
the Economic Policy Institute. His opinion pieces have
appeared in major newspapers throughout the country.
Deepak Lal, Economics Professor, UCLA, has been
an economic advisor to the World Bank and to a score
of international institutions. Mr. Lal has published and
lectured extensively on world politics and economics.
Julia F. Lowell, Ph.D., Economist, Rand Corporation,
Center for Asian-Pacific policy. Dr. Lowell has been a
researcher for Bank of America and the Federal Reserve
Bank of San Francisco.

The evening will be moderated by Ian Masters, KPFK radio host.
