Looking at the headers of your message, it shows that you are using
Netscape 3.0 gold as your browser, and are an Ottawa.public.net user. I
don't have Netscape in front of me, so I am going to try to do this from
memory.
Two scenarios:
a) You don't already have newsgroups set up on another server.
i) go to the 'window' pull-down menu in Netscape, and choose 'Netscape
Newsgroups'.
ii) Go to 'file' and select 'add server'. Type in 'news.flora.org'.
iii) You will now have a new item 'news.flora.org' in the top-left
corner. Select it. Then go to 'options' and select 'show all
newsgroups'. Wait a bit as the list downloads. On that same top-left
window you should now see a list of newsgroups: ott.forsale.computing
iv) After selecting the group, you should be able to click on the
button 'To News' up on the top of your screen, and type in your message.
b) You don't already have newsgroups set up for any server.
i) go to the 'options' pull-down menu, and select 'mail and news
preferences'.
ii) Click on the tab marked 'servers'.
iii) On the bottom there is a section for 'nntp server'. Type in
'news.flora.org', and select OK.
iv) Go to the 'window' pull-down menu, and select 'netscape news'.
v) Follow the last two steps as outlined above - the 'news.flora.org'
entry should already be in your top-left window.
If you have other questions, please feel free to wonder into the
'flora.help' group and ask there. If you just want to chat,
flora.general is a good place to start, and you can then branch out into
the Ottawa-wide, Ontario-wide and Canada-wide groups as your comfort
level increases.
