Use Any DVD-ROM With A Modded Xbox [2021]

2n7000 can be used for this as well as bs170, though from tests i have done with different drives its more common to be as the xbox expects(low going high), not the other way round, i'm currently waiting for some 74 logic chips as i dont have any as soon as those come i will fit the drive, but apart from that every signal on the xbox dvd power connector is as the xbox expects, at this stage i just want the drive working correctly it will read all media cd-r, cdrw, dvd-r, dvd+r, dvdrw(- and+).
years ago people said "why bother messing around with dvd drives just fit another xbox drive" they used to say the same about drive emulation but the amount of good xbox drives gets lower all the time.
Well, every drive is a little bit different as far as PCB layout. The functions are all mostly the same. It's just a matter of finding a place to solder all the wires to. When it comes to firmware, I think it's a modified version of an Xbox drive firmware... or a modfied version of a certain dvd-rom drive firmware with the ability to read xbox originals added to it. I don't know which, or how it was accomplished, but I think the firmware that was available and that was tweaked for a certain few drives only worked with a certain chipset. Plus, there just wasn't a lot of research into finding every drive that could possibly be modified. They found a few and focused on those ones, if I were to guess.
The drives can be fast. The 8163 reads WAY faster than a stock drive. Same with a 616T. The read speed doesn't have to be slowed down. I'm sure somebody could modify the firmware of a current drive to read discs, but it would probably take a bit of work, since the drives that are out now are not as similar to the xbox drive as those few that were used were. Like I said, different chipsets and such. I'm sure the firmwares between those few drives were a hell of a lot more similar also. But I don't doubt it can be done, just somebody willing to put in the time and who has an understanding of this area.
These 4 can read original xbox games. How ever, if you don't care about that, you can use any PC dvd drive that uses IDE. You would however need to find a way to connect the eject, status (Tray in/out, disk rdy, no disk ect.) to it. For a temp use of a dvd drive you can leave the original xbox drive connectet with the yellow cable but thats just a temporary solution like getting drunk before you go home to your wife.
Hey I am having difficulty getting ImgBurn to recognize my DVD Burner in my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I just recently started burning Dual Layer discs for playing on a modded XBOX 360 and had burned several without any issues. Now all of a sudden, my drive is not recognized and appears as 'unknown'. I can still play and burn regular DVD/CD disks, but it won't let me do anything with a DL one.
Most of the applications on the hard drive will be various tools for ripping Xbox Games (DVD2Xbox) or various tools for your modded xbox. XBMC (now known as Kodi) was a popular mod for Xbox at the time. The others I would have no idea. - most likely they will be used in EvoX than in the standard Xbox Dashboard
The DVD drive logic board is a necessary part in order for an unmodified or softmodded Xbox to boot up. In hardmodded systems that use a custom BIOS, the drive check can be skipped depending on the BIOS you have, allowing your console to function normally without it.
as commented by others it is far easier to download the backups and as long as you have a reliable connection and source you dont have to worry about read errors from a scratched disk...despite many peoples thoughts it is not illegal to download a digital copy aka backup of software you own legal rights to as you are not breaking any copyright laws. PIRACY IS A CRIME as any idiot who has read the disclaimer at the start of a dvd knows,and cannot be supported. I have heard claims that if you are transfering the data through a torrent it is openly seeded and you become responsible for the fact that you may be illegally distributing software to others and hence is advised against. The sites hosting the content typically being open to distribute to anyone without question do run substantial risk of facing legal repercussions for the content they host. some content also may fall under the category of abandoned work products and copyrights do expire as microsoft no longer manufactures nor sells original xbox content and you cannot turn to them to demand a replacement disk and the condition of your own are unknown.This does not perclude you from facing searches by cops,if a warrant were issued and to defend against these events I would strongly advise you never dispose of your physical copy,if nothing else is viable at a minimum I would keep a binder filled with your cover art from the outside of the case to prove original ownership; BUT NEVER DOWNLOAD WHAT YOU DONT OWN THE RIGHTS TO.
This part is hard. Flip over the xbox 360 case and try to cut off the screw hole receivers so you can get a flat rectangular shape in order to be able to lay in the PG/P/A. This part can be skipped but eh, doesnt look so good. Then you can cut of the corners in order to fit it.
Now lay the tape in every corner and one piece in the middle piece of plastic, its the part with the xbox 360 on it and then lay your PG/P/A on top and push in every spot with the tape.
Step 6: Put it back together.
Plug it in and enjoy, the smart led storm comes with a remote to change the colors!
Rewind the process of taking the xbox apart, and put everything back together!

An Infiltrator Commando does ridiculous amounts of damage with a pistol, with a sniper rifle for backup. Towards the end, the sniper rifle generally kills most things with one shot (properly modded), and the pistol has a higher DPS than an assault rifle, with a longer continuous fire, and better accuracy. (Taking Marksman and Overkill into account.)
