Hi, all! The census is a very important in trying to pinpoint where
our ancestors lived. I would appreciate it if any of you who know
where your ancestors lived in later years would tell me where you find
them in the 1860, 1870 and 1880 censuses. I am primarily interested in
the 1860 census, but others will be helpful as well.
As an Example, I find Obediah Edge listed in East River PO, 1860;
Eucheeanna, 1870; Elect. Dist. 7, ED 156, 1880; Shoal River, 1880. His
homestead was in the Auburn/Garden City above Crestview and family
lore says he walked to a Church on the Yellow River to act as a Lay
Preacher.
If we can get a good number of folks to do the same, perhaps we can
come up with a more definitive idea of where the precincts, POs, and
other enumeration districts were in these censu years.
Thanks for helping!
Mary Ellen
