For Jerry, please!
Jerry,
Below is some information about the upcoming clean-up
day for the Children's Home Cemetery. I have asked Peggy what sort of
equipment people need to bring and will let you know in hopes that you will pass
the word to those who might be interested in helping.
Do you know the origin of the name for the cemetery? I
want to make sure I have the story straight. As I recall, the cemetery was
started to serve an orphanage but was later opened to the community. Please
correct me and/or provide additional information. Peggy's cousin asked me about
it.
I'm copying this to Judy in case the museum's AOL
account doesn't get checked regularly.
Thanks!
Diane

Hello Dianne ,
Anita my
cousin told me she had heard from you and I have announced the cleaning every
where that I know to . Lisa Franklin ,Joan Hidle and I will be there
around 9;00 am on the 28th of Nov. I have a cousin Freddie Odom who said he
might come . I don't know of any one else ,but am looking for a good turn out
!
I notice that
you were a Davis ? My husbands mother was a Davis and she is related to
the Steeles that are buried there .Peter Steele was her great uncle. His wife
Emily Carter was my great grandfathers sister.
Good to hear
that people are finding out about the cleaning ,Peggy
