I don't have the add-on you mentioned that would prohibit me from creating a note but I still can't create one. An old note I created months ago is there, though. I just have no option to create a note. I'm using Floatnotes 0705 with Firefox 5 on Vista.

I know it's a late reply, but did you manage to fix the problem? Did you install any other addon recently that could have created this issue?
Can you find any errors related to FloatNotes on the error console? (Tools -> Error console)

I found that the Firefox add-on "Scrap Book" interferes with Web Notes. If you are running Scrap Book there will not be a "Create New Note" option on the context menu. Given how handy Web Notes is, I think I'll be migrating all of my old Scrap Book data over to Zotero (which I've been using for new items for several months now".
