A nice quick, one hour meeting with Adam, Trae, and Vinay in
attendance. Like most of our meetings, it felt very productive.

1a) Kay O's documentary
Since Tia participated in the tribe discussions, we wanted to hear her
thoughts before making any final decision. But we've tentatively
agreed to let him document everything up until we set up the community
on the island. At a later point when more people are involved in the
project, we can revisit this decision.
We also made the decision that as a documentarian/journalist, he'd get
no special privilege. He'd be required to pay the same ticket prices,
or price for a share as everyone else. And he would be expected to
live according to our values on the island. He would report as a part
of the project - gonzo journalism.
1b) Trademark
There is no requirement to register a trademark, though that gives it
additional strength. We can just declare that Floatingman and
Floatinman Island are our common law trademarks, and they will be
protected under law. Later, when we have more money, we can consider
registering our name.
Trae will look into having a notary validate the date when we started
using the name.
Adam will put a trademark notice on the website.
1c) Commercialization
We're all in agreement, that the Floatingman name and images from the
island cannot be used for any commercial purposes.
2a) advertising
When Adam gets back to SF, he has a meeting with Steve Raspa to talk
about Floatingman. Now that he knows we're a not-for-profit project,
Steve has expressed interest in what we're doing. The BMORG may be
willing to do some advertising for us. But if that happens, it won't
be happening for months.
There is now a flier for Floatingman in the most popular guesthouse in
all of Nicaragua. That'll help get the word out to the backpackers.
Plus, Adam is talking to a ton of people down here spreading things
through the word of mouth.
2b) Accomplish _something_
We still love the idea of a Nicaragua burn. But this isn't going to
happen until we have enough people interested in heading down there.
Trae and Adam are both interested in a sailing trip down to
Nicaragua. Adam has already been shopping for boats.
2c) Greeters
The tribe has not been giving the right impression to people who
join. Or perhaps just not the right info. We had already talked
about having greeters, but it was never implemented. Starting now,
Adam and Trae will alternate greeting new tribe members.
2d) todos - tracking
We just need to be a lot more professional in tracking our todos, and
checking them off. We all agreed the wiki is the best way to do this,
and that we need to start using it religiously.

2e) todos / subteams - ask for help
We need to better start publishing the todos and the subteams we
decided upon. That will provide a better way for new people to see
where they want to, or might be interested in, helping out.
2f) More detailed info about Nicaragua
Both Trae and Vinay wanted to see a blog and photos from Nicaragua.
It's critical to give people more solid info and a better
understanding of what Nicaragua is actually like.
Adam wasn't quite ready to volunteer to do a blog, but photos will be
posted very shortly. And he'll try to post more info in the tribe
about his experiences.
3) Next Meeting
The next meeting of the leadership committee will be Saturday,
February 2, at Noon. Everyone is invited.
