I own HP Pavilion dv6-1330ev Notebook Pc. The serial number of this notebook is CNF9414LZN. The model of my wireless adapter is Intel (R) WiFi Link 1000 BGN. I have windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. Suddenly, the wireless network adapter stopped working and says "Not Connected - No connections are available" while there are many neighboring wireless connections available including my home wireless router which is close to it and my iPhone is currently connected to it. The wireless adapter is on. I have tried many things but still didn't solve the problem. I disabled and enabled the adapter many times from device manager and from network and sharing center. I uninstalled and reinstalled the adapter driver many times using the "scan for hardware changes" option in device manager and downloaded the latest driver version from HP website. I updated the BIOS from HP website to the latest version which was released in 2011. I updated the driver from device manager and it said I am running the latest version. I run Windows troubleshooter and it didn't detect any issues with my wireless network adapter. I disabled Windows firewall, my anti-virus, reinstalled the driver again and nothing happened. I tried to add a device from devices and printers, but it didn't detect my wireless adapter. I checked the settings for my wireless adapter under power options and it's set to "Maximum Performance" for both "Plugged in" and "On battery". I checked the properties of my wireless adapter, unticked the option "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" from power management, and made sure that the transmit power in the advanced tab is set to "5" which is the highest. I installed the latest HP Support Assistance software and it didn't detect or solve the problem. Just to mention, my local area connection works fine when I plug the ethernet cable.

As we understand, your wireless adapter is not detecting any available networks, and the issue persists after trying multiple actions. Please keep in mind that this adapter has reached End of Interactive Support, so the options available for it are very limited.

4. Reboot the PC or scan for hardware changes, check device manager and if an older wireless driver is detected and installed, repeat the actions to uninstall and delete it as well. Repeat this process until the OS does not allow deleting the driver, or until the controller shows as Unknown Device.

I have followed your instructions and installed this intel PROSet Wireless software, then found that my router started detecting the neighboring networks including my home router. However, it still doesn't want to connect to my home router anymore and it connects to the university router successfully without any problems! Sometimes, it connects to my router then disconnects again but most of the time it doesn't want to connect giving me this message "Unable to connect to this network". I have switched my router off for almost 30 minutes then switched it on many times, but still can't connect to it. Putting in mind that my iPhone can connect to it with no problems. My router model is TP-LINK, Model: TL-WR841N(PL), S/N: 2163114006147.

I have tp-link wn781nd wifi adapter after installing zorin is its not working it connects to network and after 1 min says activation of network connection failed sometimes it didn't even work and show available network anyone knows how to fix this issue ?

What I am outlining below is the complicated way.
The reason why is because when the kernel upgrades, you would need to reinstall the wifi drivers. And needing wifi access, you really likely won't want to do that each time.
DKMS (Dynamic Kernel Module Support) allows that the drivers are tied into the newer kernel each time the kernel upgrades.
You can Copy and Paste each line, one at a time, into terminal. Watch the output. If you get an error, stop and please ask to verify things here in thread:

These ralink adapters are plain ol' sh*t. I'm not sure if this will be a complete fix for you, but I've been wresting with my network adapter for months and this has proven to be the most effective for my computer. I have an HP Envy fortunate enough to be equipped with a Ralink RT3290, running windows 8.

Out of the box, my comp was working fine and it connected to the network OK. As soon as I moved further away from the router, I experienced constant drop outs, and the connection would always flounder between low signal strength, to completely disconnecting itself from the router, where I had to manually re-connect it. A really frustrating issue at that. I use my computer on the top level of my house, and the router is at the basement. So I was getting sick of it fast. Driver update after driver update, no luck. After trying everything under the sun, I decided I would bite the bullet and I tried something a little unorthodox...

I simply uninstalled the driver from my comp. Yes, really. When a component on your comp has it's driver stripped, Windows software has a few drivers that will install by default for your hardware so that it can remain functional on your computer. So, once removing the ralink driver from my computer, windows installed it's default driver for my network adapter and... Voila! My connection problems are practically non-existant at this point. The hardware is still not the best but I can at least browse the net in my room without my connection experiencing constant dropping out.

Now, other than the wireless button light stuck with an orange glow, and device manager listing my network card as #10, I am still using this driver with minimal issues. Occasionally, it will forget the connection once I awaken the laptop from sleep, but this issue was much, much worse with the ralink drivers than without.

If you are fully aware of the risk involved (which is little, to be realistic, this can always be undone & you can always re-install the ralink drivers if this deosn't prove to be an effective solution), I will explain in detail how I managed to do this.

4) - A popup should appear and you should be given the option to proceed with the uninstall or cancel it. Make sure to check the "delete driver software for this device" before you proceed or else windows will re-install the ralink driver.

- If you have a ralink driver installer that's newer or equal to the driver already installed, you can run the installer to remove any leftover driver software that is usually overlooked by device manager when uninstalling it from your computer

- Optionally, you can check C:\Windows\System32\Drivers for any potential leftover driver files. It is important to check for any leftovers that device manager/the ralink installer may have missed because it can potentially conflict with the alternate default windows WLAN driver. the drivers should have an abbreviated name of your adapter (ex. rt3298.sys); they shouldn't be hard to find. Be careful as well; IT IS WISE TO ALWAYS BACK UP ANY DRIVER SOFTWARE YOU MAY BE REMOVING IN CASE YOU MAKE A MISTAKE.

I hope this is of any help to you. People who know nothing about what they're talking about will tell you to install the latest driver and yatta yatta yatta well since that didn't work I had to take the liberty of trying to find a fix for these accursed adapters myself. I hope this somewhat helps your issue!
