So i just downloaded the most recent version of Adobe photoshop lightroom cc (2.1.1) and I can't add any photos. Yes i followed all the steps showed in the tutorials and yet the program won't let me add pictures. Also there is an error message that pops up when i go to "key word". I tried to unstall the program because I saw on some forum discussions that it would fix my problem and yet it doesn't, my computer is still telling me that the file is corrupted. Here are some screen shots. (I know it's in french)

Hi there, i expierenced the same issue. I am using this in a company network. When i use a free internet connection it is working. So please check if your network is blocking traffic for Lightroom. (espacially when you are using it in a company network environment.)

There are some websites explaining that different port need to be forwarded, especialle those who differ from 80 or 443, such as 1935. but I can not say if this is the correct port to be open for Adobe Lightroom Cloud Version. And probably it has something to do with Windows Defender Firewall. I would check these options.

Okay, so here recently I was editing a photo in lightroom and decided it needed a little work done in photoshop. I right clicked the image, and went down to to the option "Edit in Adobe Photoshop". (otherwise known as command+e) However, this option was grayed out! This ruins my photo editing routine and I have customers waiting on photos. I have a Macbook Pro, and both Lightroom and Photoshop are completely up to date. I have tried utilizing another forum on this issue, but nothing recommended there will change anything.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop. I have tried deleting the "com.adobe.Photoshop.plist". Nothing seems to work, and the support line for Creative Cloud is closed. I am in need of some help. Hopefully, someone can help me soon!

I somehow rearranged my photos after I imported them to lightroom. I had created smart previews for these folders, so I could still edit them, but I could not transfer them to photoshop. (That doesn't make sense but whatever.)

Is the image that you're trying to edit in Photoshop missing or offline is what I mean. In Grid view does the image thumbnail have either an exclamation mark or a white rectangle in the top right corner of the thumbnail border?

No, all of my photos are in the right spot and are not missing. Nothing is missing. They are just photos. I am noticing a pattern that shows that all RAW photos don't have the option. However, regular JPEG photos do.

Actually, they do have a white rectangle in the top right-hand corner of the photos, and I am using smart previews. But I haven't moved the photos around since i uploaded them so I don't know why they would be missing. How do I show lightroom where the photos are located at?

If all the "missing" photos are in one folder, check in the Folders Panel to see if the folder name is greyed out with a "?" mark. If so, and you know where the folder really is (or if it's been renamed outside Lightroom) then right-click on the folder name and select "Find Missing Folder". In the resulting file browser window, navigate to and select the correct folder.

I just did some experimenting, and I can use the "Edit in Photoshop"option on photos that are in another folder. Is it possible that I have done something to this particular folder that could have caused this?

I right clicked on the folder of photos that I was working on and clicked "Find Missing Folder". Once I clicked that I searched through my computer and clicked on where those photos were and now Lightroom can easily transfer the photos over to photoshop.

If this doesn't work then there is a real problem and I guess this link would help you. It's very time consuming and might not help you so I recommend you do what I said above before going this far. -photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html

Lightroom is now designed to allow you to use smart previews during the editing process. The smart previews help speed up Lightroom somewhat. When Lightroom knows where the master images are it will use the smart previews until you zoom in on the image. Then it will switch to the preview of the raw image data. However, if images get moved or are on an external hard drive that becomes disconnected then Lightroom will only use the smart previews. In your case, the images were moved and Lightroom no longer was able to automatically point to those master images automatically And therefore only used the Smart previews. When using smart previews only, the Edit in Photoshop option is not available because the work done in Photoshop cannot be applied to a copy of the full sized image. So the option is unavailable by design.

So You can save the image to anyplace you want on your drive. Preferable a folder that normally is used with lightroom. Ex. create a folder called graphics. Then in lightroom you use file>import to select that folder.

Now every time you add any images to that folder, all you need to do is sync that folder in lightroom and it will add those images. Syncing will also remove any images from the database that are no longer in that folder. So it works both ways to make sure the folder and the database are mirrored hence the name sync.

A bit of caution though, when you edit images in lightroom that edit is stored in the database not the file. So you need to select that image(s) more than one image can be saved at once and save. ctrl-s(windows) cmd-s(mac)

It does answer the question and you do misunderstand how Lightroom works. Images are never "in" Lightroom - they are out there on the disk and the Lightroom catalog keeps track of where, by importing the files.

Now. Here's what you're specifically looking for: If you "edit in" Photoshop from Lightroom, and you then save the file from Photoshop, Lightroom will continue to track the file and automatically add it to the catalog. For this to work, Lightroom has to remain open throughout the process.

One other thing to add though - if all you want from Lightroom is the adjustments - then you can just select all layers, Convert for Smart Filters and use Filter Camera Raw within Photoshop. You get the same adjustments with no need to open Lightroom at all.

No hes not misuderstanding (Abuse removed by moderator). His question is very simple. How do you take something created in photoshop and move it over to Lightroom? For example when creating a contact sheet and altering photos... Just answer the question or don't say anytthing at all.

However, to answer your question, you don't move a file to Lightroom. Instead, in Photoshop just save the image to disk, then go to Lightroom and import it. That will add it to the catalogue.

Thanks Johnnie! I was checking this question and saw how irrelevant the answers were! After all those called 'professional' seem to know but the catalogue and don't improvise to know what people mean! Hey professionals, Adobe is about creativity, don't limit your mindsets to shortsighted instructions! Although the question was so easy: "Is there a way to send an image you are editing in Photoshop to complete editing in Lightroom" we know there is the possibility to go vice versa (from Photoshop to LR) but the LR to PS is not yet possible, I hope Adobe can provide this function..

If starting in Lightroom, i.e. with an image that is already imported to the Lightroom catalogue, use Edit in Photoshop. Then close and save and the resulting edited image can be edited further in Lightroom.

What the original poster was trying to ask is if Photoshop has a simple and seamless option of clicking your mouse and opening your photo back into Lightroom. As you know (i hope) Lightroom (for what, a decade now?) has the drop-down menu option to SEND PHOTO TO LIGHTROOM.

Do you get it now? I am in this situation right now. Been using Photoshop for nearly 15 years and Lightroom since the beginning and I always use your method of saving then re-importing but you know (or so I hope) that's *NOT* what we're talking about here.

You don't need to re-import back to Lightroom. If you started in Lightroom and used Edit in Photoshop then just keep Lightroom open. On" Save" your photo will be updated in Lightroom. No other steps required.

The only time you need to import separately to Lightroom is if you started outside of Lightroom e.g. as File New in Photoshop. Then you do need to open Lightroom and import as Lightroom will have no record of it.

I completely agree with what you are saying, however I found that since the last system updates to both Lightroom and Photoshop, this doesn't happen. I edit back and forth often - usually working primarily out of Lightroom and then making tweeks in Photoshop. When I would SAVE the image from Photoshop, it would save the copy of the edited image to Lightroom...which was perfect! It doesn't seem to do that anymore just via SAVE from Photoshop. The problem I have then is that if I try to pull the image from the saved file(where it was saved from Photoshop to my computer files) it won't allow me to do it because it's a duplicate image.

Thanks for answering this. When saving in photoshop with the intent of bringing it back to lightroom, what format do you save the photo under? I've been saving it as a TIFF but am not sure if that's correct..

Sorry to hijack the post.
I got No idea where my photoshop files are kept Yes I've download to my local computer.
I do have 2 files name with Adobe files: see my photo below, but nothing Lightroom, or these 2 folders..
