Does anyone have any idea why this image is looks this way?  Why is that dark blue "shadow" of me stuck in the images?  No matter what I do in the image the dark blue shadow remains there.  Any ideas?

Is that permanent? Definitely not seeing that with mine.
Perhaps try a different/shorter cable? Seems like an entire set of pixel data is being shifted/delayed.

A few posts here ... the shutter should actuate when you first power on the Lepton, if it doesn't, then your shutter is likely to be faulty. Power-cycling and watching for 30 seconds is definitely the most reliable method. I think FFC is supposed to happen every 180 seconds.

I don't know of any solution for this; a solution I've used before is to use a can of compressed air to "unstick" it. As far as I'm aware, you can't even replace the shutter -- you have to replace the whole Lepton.

I'm not sure it is programming related; the shutters are notoriously "fragile" -- this is a hardware issue.

Yes

It’s actually a faulty shutter.  And the image isn’t correct.  I’m switching to another camera.

Switching to what? I'm not aware of any other passive IR sensor with the capabilities and price range of the Lepton.

Also, one of my Leptons has a faulty shutter ... the other one has been running 24/7 for over two years without issue.

Sorry

I meant switching to another Lepton 3.5 that I have here. LOL honestly if there were  another option I’d consider it.  FLIR has a lot of bugs and gaps in their development kit for this camera which make my team uneasy.
