Lepton 3 Horizontal Lines

Hello. I am having a few problems with a Lepton camera that I am trying to use. 

These problems, in short, are:

1. When viewing the raspberrypi_qt, the image jumps back and forth, only showing what should be in the viewing window about every other frame.

2. The video is not working at all. Im just getting the red square.

3. I am getting a horizontal distortion in the lines in all cases that it works. This distortion seems to be picking up stuff outside the view area?

I am using a Lepton 3.5 series with a v1.4 breakout board, attached to a Raspberry Pi 3 B running Raspbian. I am using software (Lepton3Module) made for Lepton3 (reading through old files here old software seemed to be somebody's problem); when I used the older software (LeptonModule) the video program was working about as well as the qt is now (but freezing after a few frames) however the capture was not working at all. I have a 5V 2.5A power input going to the raspberry pi (the VIN of the lepton is going to the 3.3V pin of the pi). The CS wire is attached to CE1 (pin 26) although I have tried both 24 and 26 - the qt and camera are working on 26.

I got it working now, by using the pylepton software instead. Thank you to those who helped me.

how did you get it to work? I'm having the same issue, but had no success with pylepton.

Hi Laura,

Which branch did you use?

If you are using Flir Lepton 3.5, you should use the lepton3-dev branch.

$ git clone https://github.com/groupgets/pylepton.git

$ cd pylepton/

$ git checkout lepton3-dev

$ sudo python setup.py install

$ pylepton_overlay -a 200

or

$ pylepton_overlay -a 200 -d "/dev/spidev0.1"

Probably this is very noisy.

You may need to set a sleep in the loop.
