Make it easy on yourself. Put drive surfaces on one level and check surfaces on another level. You could make drive surfaces one color and check surfaces another color and use the color mask. There are several different options to use here.
Just highlight the surfaces you want to use for a toolpath. Then right click on the levels in the bottom of the screen and copy them to a level you want to use. Now do the same for what you want to use for check surfaces. Now you turn off the level where the model was and you have check and drive surface separated on 2 different levels. Now when you go to select your drive surface have the level with the drive surfaces on. Now when go to pick your check surfaces you now turn off the drive surface level and turn on the check surface.
Now after explaining this I will say it is really not needed IMHO. I have done models with thousands of surfaces and been very efficient at using drive and check surfaces. I think as you get more comfortable using the software you find you do not see external files for drive and check surfaces.
Typically, you would use the same cad file for both drive and check surfaces. A drive surface is merely the portion of the model that you would like to machine while check surfaces are where you want to avoid machining. Some models and machining strategies require no check surfaces at all.

I need to present a USB storage device to a VM running in vSphere HA cluster. I know I can plug the USB drive straight into one of the servers and then pass that through to the VM by adding hardware. The problem I see with this is that if that server node is being rebooted for maintenance, and the VM is still up due to HA clustering / live migration, it will lose its connection to the USB, which I don't want. Also if the server gets moved to another physical host due to DRS / HA, it will again lose its connection to the USB drive.
I was hoping there would be a way that I can attach the drive to the VRTX (not to an individual server node) and then UNC to it from the VM (rather that have it presented as local hardware), or is this simply not possible?

Well we have a onefinity woodworker in our wood working club. I have one heck of a time with the usb disconnecting all the time. during cuts. today I tried for forty five minutes to insert the thumb drive and never got it to stay connected I have seen there are some issues with this other then me. Can anyone tell me if there is a fix or do we have a bad usb plug in I have done all the trouble shooting I can think, that they said to try.
I told the head of the cnc department today to get it fixed or send the thing back to onefinity and tell them to correct it. this is a club machine in a retirement community and and we have lots of people that will be running and I am suppose to teach them how. but with this issue i can not.
