Vault Office is a separate product, which provides basic vaulting capabilities for non-CAD users. It enables single document check-in and check-out by way of the Vault web client and the add-in. All office data can be managed, including Word documents, spreadsheets and presentations.
So to solve this problem I would like to write a program that gives me a list of connected users. So far I found some code to show me all users from the vault workgroup, but that information is useless because I know all user accounts. I just need the currently connected users.
Any tips on how to migrate 2017 vault to the newer pdm versions. Is it better to pack and go all the assemblies rather then have IT give me all the files stored on my local computer and import them that way.
SOLIDWORKS Workgroup PDM is a non-database managed product data management system. It creates a pseudo-database setup through the use of nested folder structures. This nested folder structure also stores all the administrative level user settings (user permissions, global vault settings, etc.) within the Vault Data folder itself. In this way, the vault is a self-contained ecosystem capable of being moved with all its settings to a new location by copying a single folder.

That setting in W10 Home and Pro is set to 'Not Configured' why, because these are going to be predominantly used in a workgroup environment, on the other hand Enterprise and Education are set to disabled because of their deployment in a domain environment.
Autodesk Vault is a file versioning system that "records" the progression of all edits a file has undergone. All files and their associated metadata are indexed in the SQL base data management system and are searchable from the Vault client interface. Other information about the files include version history, uses (composed of a list of children), "Where Used" (a list of all parents) as well as a light weight viewable in the form of the Autodesk Design Web Format (DWF) file which is automatically published upon check-in. When users intend to edit a file the file is checked-out and edits are made. When the user is satisfied with the changes the file checked-in and new file version, containing the new changes, is then available to other users in the workgroup. In-process file changes (file saves) are hidden from other users until the changes are checked-in. As files are edited, renamed and moved in the folder structure the Vault database automatically updates any file references in related files.

These guys can solve just about anything during the migration. All versions, change folder structure, re-unite data inside and outside of your vault, change file names, manipulate file properties, swap sheet formats. They do this type of thing very often and have been doing it since SOLIDWORKS first started.
