The Asset Browser provides easy access to libraries of preset content stored locally or online, including a vast collection of 3D objects, materials and capsules available to Cinema 4D subscribers. The library can be browsed or searched, and each asset includes rich metadata and keywords. Assets are downloaded on-demand, so there's no need to pre-download huge libraries of assets. They're also cached on your local computer, so your favorite assets are immediately available for re-use.

Keywords can be added to your assets making content easily searchable. Save your frequent searches in smart folders and when assets are added later with the same keywords, they will be added automatically to those folders.

Include a searchable palette of common assets directly in your Cinema 4D layouts. You can add individual's assets, folders or smart searches to any icon palette. Assets will be immediately added to your scene while folders and smart searches will pop-up a small Asset Browser window.

Incredibly useful in complex production pipelines. As the project evolves the asset can evolve with it. Rolling back to a previous version or updating a scene with the latest version is as easy as a few clicks.

I am a heavy user of the asset browser in Cinema 4D R26, so I want to make sure that I regularly backup my asset browser with all of my materials, lighting setups, backdrops, models, scenes and everything else. Where is the current location on Windows 10? Do I need to save anything else to backup my library? After googling I could only find out that it used to be called user.lib4d but that changed recently apparently.

Hi Everyone I've jumped from C4D R23 to R25 and the biggest shock so far has been the asset browser (content browser being removed). I have a huge folder on my PC with all my saved HDRIS, Models, and Textures that I used to acces via the Content Browser but now I can't with the Asset one.

I've tried converting the Folder in the Content Browser into a Lib4d, and then importing it to the asset browser but I noticed 2 things. 1) the database isn't syncing, eg. if i change something in the original folder, nothing new happens in the content browser. 2) the content browser doesn't preview.exr files (most of my HDRIs).

Alternative, if nothing works, but to get you going:
Go to Files> File Assets> Path. Here add the folder(s) that contains your assets. Eventually, a restart might help.

The Greyscalegorilla team has announced that Greyscalegorilla Plus, a library of over 4000 high-quality 3D materials, textures, models, and HDRIs, previously available exclusively for Maxon's Cinema 4D, is now compatible with all major 3D applications.

This transition, described as "From Exclusive to Inclusive" by Greyscalegorilla, opens up the library's assets to 3D artists using various Digital Content Creation software, allowing them to instantly access hand-crafted materials, versatile HDRIs, and fully UV-mapped models that the library offers.

Greyscalegorilla Plus for Everyone opens up our powerful asset library so you can effortlessly infuse your projects with stunning, photorealistic materials, lighting, and 3D assets. Our Material Importer Plugins will save you time by assembling PBR textures into fully connected materials.

I'm on R25 with the latest Arnold plugin and I'm consistently having issues when importing materials into the Asset Browser. If I import a material I've made where the image textures for the material are in the "tex" folder relative to the C4D document, once imported and dragged into a new document, the image references are still relative (just the original filename and extension with no path) without the "asset:\\path\to\image" type of formatting etc., so they all break... and furthermore, if I move to another machine and use the same Asset Browser library, the links will change from the actual filename (or asset:\\link type path) to something like "asset:\\file_XXXXXXXXXXXXX" which becomes even more troublesome to relink all of them.

The path should be changed automatically to the assetdb:// url format, when the material is added to the library. Not sure if it's a bug in Cinema 4D or something is missing from the plugin. I'll have to talk to Maxon to figure it out.

Posters are typically displayed for movies on Plex app dashboards, library views, and when looking at details for the movie. Poster art is typically of 1:1.5 aspect ratio. Custom Poster artwork will be detected and used if named and stored as follows:

Maxon has released Cinema 4D S24, its latest subscriber-only update to the 3D animation software, introducing a new asset browser and physics-enabled placement tools for scene layout and set dressing.

This button will start a new Blender instance and open the blend-file that contains the asset. In the background Blender will keep monitoring that new Blender instance;when it is quit, the Asset Browser will be refreshed to show any updated assets.

Panel for viewing and editing asset tags. These do not have any meaning to Blender, and can be chosen freely. When using the search field to filter the assets, those assets whose tags (partially) matchthe search term will also be shown.

As a general rule, an asset can be used by dragging it from the Asset Browser to the desired location.Objects and worlds can be dragged from the Asset Browser into the scene,Materials can be dragged onto the object that should use them.Geometry nodes can also be dragged onto objects to add a Geometry Nodes Modifier. The use of pose assets is different, and is described in Pose Library.

All of the asset and all its dependencies will be appended to the current file.Dragging a material into the scene three times will result in three independent copies.Dragging an object into the scene three times will also result in three independent copies.

The first time an asset is used, it will be appended, including its dependencies, just like described previously. However, Blender will keep track of where it originated, and the next time the asset is used, as much data as possible will be reused.Dragging a material into the scene three times will only load it once, and just assign the same material three times.Dragging an object into the scene three times will create three copies of the object, but all copies will share their mesh data, materials, etc.

Some asset types such as collections can be created as an instanced collection. This is done by enabling the Instance option after dragging collection assets into the 3D Viewport.By enabling this option an empty object is added that uses an instance of the collection. If this option is disabled then the full collection hierarchy will be added to the scene.

The Enscape community originally requested this feature, and thanks to pioneers like Pieter Schiettecatte, a workaround was created and shared with fellow users to allow everyone to use unique models within their designs until a fully supported custom asset library was developed.

Yes. If there are valid custom assets in the defined file path, they will appear in the Custom Asset Library. So if you save the final asset to a folder on a shared network drive, every user that has access to that drive can use it. Your colleagues will need to set the source folder in the Custom Asset Library to get access to all the custom assets that are saved there.

A library of digital assets - 3D scenes, digital cinema footage, etc. - that demonstrate the scale and complexity of modern feature film production, including computer graphics, visual effects and animation. Curated by the Academy Software Foundation, these assets are available free of charge to researchers and developers of both open source and commercial projects, to test, demonstrate, and inspire their ideas. See our license template. You can find us on Slack at #assets, or on our mailing list.

Paramount Digital Entertainment today announced www.ParamountClips.com, the first product offering from the studio's digital film index. At launch, clips from over 80 of Paramount Pictures' most beloved and most successful films will be available to Paramount licensees. Digitalsmiths, the innovative multi-screen media analysis, operations and publishing technology provider, has utilized its VideoSense technology to index, manage, distribute and further monetize Paramount's vast digital film library on multiple screens.

Paramount's licensees can search for any element within the library, a list that includes (but is not limited to) specific actors, locations or lines of dialogue. VideoSense instantly combs through the collected metadata to locate the relevant clip. That clip can then be reformatted, exported to any platform that plays video, and monetized.
