Happy Friday!  It's challenge time!

So far, we've selected a unit of study, investigated a possible tech tool to incorporate, and now we will look at activities we can implement in the classroom with students to support the learning they will do at home!

When you click on the link, scroll down to the section entitled "Learning Opportunities."  Read through the different possibilities and report back on one you could envision using in the unit of study you selected in Challenge 1!

Looking forward to your responses!

I looked at "Active Learning" and found a learning opportunity that appealed to me:

Be sure to offer timely feedback to students after an activity; in large classes, one option is for you to explain both the correct and incorrect answers (some students will have guessed)

In PE, we usually play a game and I honestly only provide feedback to some students, now that I'm really thinking about it.  But I think the keyword here is timely.  Maybe I don't offer everyone feedback during the Olympic games that we'll take part in, but after the game is over, I can provide more students with feedback.  I'm going to keep this on my radar!!

Hi everyone,

I liked the idea of peer instruction.  I have not tried that before!  I could do this in my "History of Colors" unit by assigning each student (or student pairs) a color and have them teach the class about it.  I'm excited about this idea!

Thanks again for another great challenge, Amanda!

Hi all,

I was drawn to the problem-based learning option.  Since I'm working with Kindergarteners on sequencing, it's important to carve out time for students to practice and solve the problems they run into as the sequence.  I like that I can provide time for students to try on their own, but also work together to solve these problems!

Thanks for this nice little list to help frame ideas for learning opportunities in the classroom, Amanda!

I also love the idea of students teaching students!  I'm going to do more thinking on this!

Yes!  I think Michael's post can help you think further about how to incorporate that method into your unit!

After reading the list and what everyone had to say, I also really like the idea of having my students teach the class on one part of the unit.  I think it would make them more accountable for their learning!
