Happy Friday to all of you!

Thank you for sharing your Challenge 1 worksheets.  It was great to see your planning!

For this week, Challenge 2 involves tools for the flipped classrom:

1.  Explore a list of recommended tools
2.  Choose one tool to examine and brainstorm ways you can use it in the unit you described in your Step 1 worksheet.

3.  Report back to us!
    • On this thread, post the tool you selected and explain how you plan to integrate it in your unit!

I look forward to hearing about the tools you all explore and how you might use it in your teaching!

I had heard of Loom, but hadn't used it before.  I looked into and I was super excited that Loom offers a free premium subscription to educators!  I highly suggest signing up for this if you don't already have one.

After exploring the tool, I feel like it would be a great way for me to record videos to present my content.  I can screencast, record myself, or do both at once!  I think I would utilize all of these settings.

I'm excited to implement this tool with my students!

I explored a tool that I've heard so many teachers use, but I just never took the time to look into myself: EdPuzzle.

I have a video I typically show on the history of color as an introduction to the unit.  I went ahead and used that when I explored the platform and am well on my way to creating my first video-based assessment!  I can tell already that I'm going to like it.

Holly, that's great about Loom.  My school uses Canvas as an LMS, so most of us use Canvas Studio, but I could see how Loom would be a wonderful resource if your school/district didn't provide an LMS.

Holly,
I'm so glad you found Loom to be a good fit for you!  Like Michael, my school district uses Canvas, but my last school didn't have an LMS, so I used Loom quite a bit!  I would even use it when I had a sub, so students could still see me and get the mini-lesson from me!  And you're right- the free educator account is an awesome opportunity!

Thanks for taking part in this challenge!

Michael,
That is awesome!  You obviously felt comfortable and confident enough in the tool to start creating something to use in your history of color unit.  I'm so happy you have found something you feel is valuable to integrate into your teaching!

Thanks for taking part in the challenge!

Y'all- I'm pretty psyched about this.  I looked into Kahn Academy for my tool and they have some great videos an articles on the Olympics (my unit from the Step 1 worksheet)!  I can create classes and assign them activities.  This is so perfect.  I'm appreciative of this challenge!

Awesome, Karen!!  You're excitement is palpable!

I'm actually also using Kahn Academy this week for a review on Internet and networking concepts for my Level 2 class.  It's such a well done tool.

I looked at the list and after Karen raved about Kahn Academy, I looked into it myself.  It is awesome!!  I'm definitely going to utilize this for multiple units, including the one I focused on in my Step 1 worksheet.  Thanks for the plug, Karen!

Hi all,

I explored Padlet and give it 2 thumbs up!  I could see this tool being used in my worksheet unit, but also a lot of other units as well.  Simple, yet versatile!

Hillary,

I love that you're "listening" to others about their experiences with tools and using that knowledge to help guide you to tools you think might be a good fit for your classroom.  Nice job!
