Greetings from Vidya Sagar!

Vidya Sagar is a non-profit organisation working with children and young adults with neurological impairment. In a year, we reach out to about 4000 persons with disabilities and their families across the country. We as well work on the rights of all persons with disabilities in the legal and policy front. We are a part of the Disability Rights Alliance, India, a larger forum that lobby for Cross Disability Rights at the National and state level.

We herewith attach our suggestions/recommendations for the new ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Bill’ that is pending before the Parliamentary Standing Committee and for which the Standing Committee of Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has asked for suggestions. We have also sent the hard copy to your office by post today.

A two member team from our Organisation would like to appear in person before the Standing Committee while the Bill is discussed at the Committee.

Looking forward to a rights based approach and a fair process, inclusive of the participation of Stake holders, in the law making of the nation.
