Hi,

I just handed in my master thesis in biology about social behavior of
a house mice population. Part of it is a Flex interface to visualize
the social network of the mice population. As you might guess, the
interface is based on birdeye.

In the implementation I added features for edge filtering (based on
the weight of the edge), an ego network view, a panel which shows
network measures for the nodes and a some more stuff. If you are
interested in the application you can read about it on my blog (http://ricombination.wordpress.com/2009/11/01/miceminer-a-data-mining-interface-to-study-social-behavior-of-house-mice/
), or just contact me.

My special thanks go to the developers of the library and the
community of this mailing list.

- by the way. I'm looking for a job as Flex developer here in
Switzerland. So please let me know if you hear something.

Hi Rico,

Great work and thanks for the encouraging words. Look's like you have
a success story with your project - the screen cast is very
interesting. One of the key areas we've been hoping to integrate is
methods for social network analysis, specifically centrality measures.
It'd be great if we could take advantage of your work in this area...

Best,

JB

Hi JB,

It would be great if you could use some of my code to calculate the
centrality measures. You can get a clone of the source code from
github (http://github.com/rico/miceminer-flex).
A good start would be the classes.datastructures.GraphData class.
Since this is the place where all centrality measures are collected.

Let me know if you need more information, I would be glad to help.
