The installation dialogue boxes will disappear.
I've tried hustling through them as fast as possible. Got to the one where you click "install" but never past it. Everything just disappeared with the installation.
-I have downloaded the 13.0 setup file three times from a couple sources.
*I used a CC cleaner thing to clean registry and update all drivers
*I rebooted the computer several times.
*I made sure Windows Media Player was installed and enabled.
*I uninstalled and reinstalled Windows Media Player just to be sure
-I tried installing e-sword in safe mode
-I ran the troubleshoot compatibility option and tried Windows 7 and Windows XP
-I installed other programs such as Audacity with no problems
Running Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, 8gig RAM, 445 gig free hard drive space
So, the end result is I can install anything on this computer from anywhere except e-sword, and since I uninstalled the previous version trying to make this installation work, I can no longer use e-sword at all on this computer. Wits end.

I know that .com works on just about nearly every website, which that extension was/is related to some of the DOS programs like copy.com and etc. But .exe just doesn't work as an extension for websites as that still exclusively belongs to Windows and MS/PC DOS. But hey! That could change one day. You just never know.
After uninstalling and reinstalling successfully a couple of times, I no longer could pass the logo. However it was recommended for me to try a new profile account on windows 10. And it worked. However I do not want to be switching profile accounts. Any suggestions?
I have used e-Sword for years and love it. After upgrading to v.13.0 I have found the programmer to be endued with more patience than I. It now takes more than 1.5 minutes to start with no indication it is about to appear. I have tried every tip i can find but it is still like God, it changes not. Help!
You're using an outdated version of Internet Explorer. It's better for you and everyone else if you upgrade today to a browser that can handle the new technologies on the internet. The browser you've got now is a little bit like trying to race a Model T at a Nascar race. (Seriously, you have no idea how far backwards websites have to bend to make themselves look tolerable on your browser). But don't worry! You can upgrade to a modern browser for free at this link, so there's no problem. Just go upgrade and then come back, and you'll be able to see the e-Sword website in all its glory. See you then!
You need this to get started. This basic installation includes the King James Bible, King James with Strong's numbers study Bible, Strong's Hebrew and Greek Dictionaries, Smith's Bible Dictionary, Through the Bible Day by Day (F. B. Meyer) commentary, Treasury of Scripture Knowledge cross references, and Morning & Evening (Charles H. Spurgeon) devotional.

I have been using e-sword for 10-15 years on windows pc, but I am going to move over to Linux Mint Cinnamon with my new computer. Am I going to be able to use e-sword on my Linux computer at all? I have seen that a program called "Wine" will enable Windows programs to work, but e-sword is probably bigger than most Windows apps. Is it feasible to download and/or use e-sword at all in Linux. Please advise asap as I will be buying my new computer very soon. Thanks in advance and God Bless!!!
I use a Debian 9 (Stretch} based Linux; e-sword works quite well with my version, I used PlayOnLinux to install since it was easier to load dependencies. Otherwise, you'll need Wine and Winetricks to load dependencies.
esword v10 to v12 runs on linux using WINE ,I recommend using playonlinux, or crossover and installing it inside a bottle, you can search for "how to install esword on linux" on youtube to know how to do it, anyway Beyond that there are other programs like Xiphos bible study or BibleTime, these I think you can install them from the repositories of your distro, they are similar but they use the modules in the-sword-project format.
Doesn't Linux allow you to get the display on the screen to be made bigger, for example, 125% or larger, so that everything that is projected to the screen will be enlarged? If the resolution of your new monitor can provide for larger than 100 percent, then this may be your solution to your problem, so that everything is projected to the screen monitor as a much bigger picture.
I've had mixed results in the past attempting to run e-Sword on various Linux distros. Often there would be problems with font scaling and clarity, clipboard not working, inability to install modules, and other miscellaneous hiccups.
Unless, of course, they downloaded them from this site and were not using the installer, in which case they will be patiently waiting in their download directory along with the "exe" files. In that case, they will need to move the files to the e-sword directory manually.
"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.
If one has changed the default resource path from C:\Programs Files (x86)\e-Sword (Win 64 bit) or C:\Program Files\e-Sword (Win 32 bit) to either a another drive/partition, or totally somewhere else on the main HDD/SSD, like I have, e-Sword will pick it up and download it to that location. But, and this is really important: when it comes to the installers, they will still show the default installation path of e-Sword itself, and therefore that has to be changed. Notice the screenshots of what I have done in that regard.
You can host your user files wherever you like, even the cloud. Just copy the files to the new location, then update the "User Files Location" path to the directory that contains all of your user files.
I just downloaded and installed e-Sword Version 13 on a Windows 10 machine and discovered it does not start. When the icon is clicked on nothing happens. Because of a similar problem with version 12.x in the past I copied the entire e-Sword folder before installing the new version and was able to restore version 12.2. Anyone else having similar problems?
I love e-Sword and have used it almost daily for many years and always look forward to the newer versions. But these recent problems have made me cautious, which is why I backed up my previous version before installing version 13. Otherwise I would be without e-Sword until a fix is uploaded.
Just another side comment: When I downloaded the version 13 .exe file in MS Edge it gave out a warning that this file could damage my computer and stopped the download. (I had to manually bypass that.) Also, when I ran the setup file Windows stopped the installation with a similar warning I had to manually bypass. I had the same experience with version 12.x, but never did with previous versions. There seems to be something in the setup file that Windows 10 sees as suspicious. Anyone hear anything from Rick on this?
Renewed installation brought this warning: "Microsoft Defender Smart Screen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk." Did a manual override and installed.
First do a complete uninstall of e-Sword 13 from your PC, then download the installer again if possible using a different browser such as Google Chrome. If do not have a second browser then temporarily turn off your antivirus software, and download the installer again. Once the download is complete turn your antivirus software back on
e-sword-1300-download Please refer to -sword.net/faq.html for answer to the question "I JUST INSTALLED E-SWORD 13 AND IT WILL NOT START!" After the e-sword_1300_setup.exe was downloaded, the security on Windows 10 20H2 reported "e-sword_1300_setup.exe was blocked because it could harm your device. Options were "Delete", "Keep", "Report this file as safe", and "Learn more". Because this is a new file, which has not previously been reported to Microsoft, and is unknown to the latest security downloaded to your PC, my PC gave me a warning: "This app might harm your device". So there is no problem that Rick Meyer's website is not registered. This was necessary, because otherwise the new file will overwrite the previous file which has exactly the same name. > Return to the download file folder. HINT: If you have more information about listening to the Bibles read aloud, please share your experience. I can't find this explained in the e-Sword options. Perhaps Rick Meyers left it out?
