Mr. X is a 2015 Indian science fiction thriller film directed by Vikram Bhatt and starring Emraan Hashmi and Amyra Dastur. The film tells the story of Raghuram Rathod (Hashmi), a security officer who gains the power of invisibility after a lab accident and uses it to take revenge on his enemies. The film was released on 17 April 2015 and received mixed reviews from critics. The film was also dubbed in Tamil and Telugu languages.
Plot
Raghuram is deeply in love with his colleague Siya Verma (Dastur) and wants to marry her. However, their boss Aditya (Arunoday Singh) has other plans and tries to blackmail Siya into marrying him. One day, Raghuram is caught in a lab accident that leaves him with the ability to become invisible. He escapes from the hospital and decides to use his new power to expose Aditya's corruption and crimes. He also vows to protect Siya from Aditya's threats. However, he soon realizes that his invisibility comes with a price: he has to stay away from sunlight and any kind of radiation, or else he will disintegrate. He also has to inject himself with a blue liquid every few hours to prevent his cells from collapsing. He contacts his friend Popo (Tanmay Bhat), a hacker, who helps him track down Aditya's associates and eliminate them one by one. He also creates a mask and a suit that allow him to appear normal in public.
Meanwhile, Siya is assigned to investigate the case of Mr. X, the mysterious vigilante who is killing Aditya's men. She does not know that Mr. X is actually Raghuram, who tries to communicate with her through phone calls and letters. She gradually develops a sympathy for Mr. X and his cause, while also feeling guilty for betraying Raghuram. She eventually discovers Raghuram's identity and decides to help him in his mission. Together, they manage to expose Aditya's involvement in illegal arms deals, human trafficking, and terrorism. They also confront Aditya at his farmhouse, where Raghuram kills him in a final showdown.
Raghuram and Siya then decide to leave the country and start a new life together. However, they are stopped by the police at the airport, who have been tipped off by Popo, who has turned against them for money. Raghuram sacrifices himself by removing his mask and suit and becoming invisible, thus creating a diversion for Siya to escape. He then runs towards the sunlight and disintegrates, leaving behind only his ring for Siya to remember him by.

Production
The film was announced in February 2014 by Mahesh Bhatt, who said that it would be a remake of the 1957 Hollywood film The Invisible Boy. However, later it was revealed that the film was not a remake but an original story inspired by the concept of invisibility. The film was shot in 3D using the Fusion camera system. The film's visual effects were done by Prime Focus Limited. The film's music was composed by Jeet Gannguli, Ankit Tiwari, and Ankur Tiwari. The film's trailer was released on 5 March 2015.
Reception
The film received mixed reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a rating of 33%, based on 6 reviews. On IMDb, the film has a rating of 3.8/10, based on 1,821 votes. Some critics praised the film's concept and performances, while others criticized the film's script, direction, and logic. Rajeev Masand of CNN-IBN gave the film 1.5 stars out of 5 and wrote, "Mr X is so singularly silly, you have to wonder how it got made in the first place." Taran Adarsh of Bollywood Hungama gave the film 2 stars out of 5 and wrote, "On the whole, MR X is a bland and boring fare that fails to impress." Shubhra Gupta of The Indian Express gave the film 1 star out of 5 and wrote, "Mr X is a disaster. Not just because it is yet another botched-up Bollywood rehash of a Hollywood flick, but because it is so spectacularly bad in every department."
