I've worked through all the patches from 3.2 and applied them to the
4.5 source tree from Adobe. Hopefully, that's the hard part. :-)

However, since I've not built the compiler myself before, I'd
appreciate either 1) pointers on how to do this easily or 2) someone
that already has a build env up that I can pass my patches to.

Any volunteers?

Building the compiler is actually very simple. Drop into the root directory and run the "ant" command. The default target in build.xml will trigger a full build process.

Not quite so simple. At least javacc.jar needs to be in the top level lib/ dir as a build requirement What else I wonder?

Currently seeing all sorts of missing packages: flash.util, flash.localization, etc.

Clearly, need additional build req elements.

Suggestions?

NM. I'm being stupid. More later.

OK

I have a flexcover patched 4.6 SDK that works as a normal SDK and
generates .cvm files. However, the generated .cvm files are all 0
bytes. Somewhere, I'm missing a switch...

Suggestions welcome

Success. I have flexcover working with SDK 4.6 in FB 4.6. I've also
rebuilt the various CoverageAgent and CoverageViewer pieces under FB
4.6 and they seem to function fine.

I can attach the patch to an issue if that's the best route...however,
given that the last such patch for 4.0.0 never made it into the source
tree, I'd happily do the work to actually push the change.

Hi Brett,

How did you generate the flexcover patched 4.6 sdk?
Your help would be appreciated.

Amit

Amit

I checked out the Flex SDK source tree and then worked through the code changes required.

I generated the resulting patch file and attached it to this issue:

As noted in the issue, you will need to apply my patch against the 4.6 source tree from the Adobe Flex open source SDK

[I also added some comments to that issue re: 4.5 SDK support since  have been previously asked about my efforts there]

Now that Flex is under the Apache incubation process, it's conceivable that flexcover could in fact be integrated into that source tree, or at least prepared in a maintainable branch.

However, I note that there was other work done by Adobe to provide a form of coverage as documented in this blog posting: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash-builder/articles/ascode-coverage.html

it's not as good IMHO as the flex cover tooling, but given that it was "official" it may provide the better starting point for future coverage efforts.

Regards

Brett
