Sounds like a good deal except for a couple of things. I've worked heavy labor in my 20s and I'm sorry to say that in my 50s I just can't do that any more. My back's not been good since an accident I had years back, too.
I did some semi-heavy labor today, 4 hours packing up some items for shipping, electronics stuff like power supplies and scope plug-ins, and that was pretty wearing.
I kind of thought that if I did the right things, I'd not have to consider working for Labor Ready in my 50s.
I'm divided between two things: Learning to draw better and doing caricatures, which can pay quite well, or learning to play clarinet then saxophone (trumpet's a lot of work) and playing street music. So far I've been only potentially good, on trumpet, and averaged $10 an hour but I'm really only good for a couple of hours. Reed instruments can be played for several hours (sax players are famous for this) and if the average is $10 an hour, I need to be able to do it for 5 hours a day. But truthfully, if I can go from potentially good to actually good, $100's a day at farmer's markets and things is possible.
