Validation in Flex

i have been looking for the validation methods available in Flex and
its amazing. but the problem is how to use it. let say i have 10 filed
to accept data out of that 4 fields are mandatory. when i click save
button check for required field and show the Alert. and set back the
focus to required field.

i saw few example where the button will be disabled until i enter all
required fields, i feel its not good idea to design form like that.

so if any one has better ideas on form validation please share
