Ok, I have my materials posted in a 3MB zip file. Some things had to
be left out in order to make the size manageable. It turns out that
we're limited to 10MB maximum for a single file, and 100MB total for
the group's uploaded materials.

The page that links to the zip file is here:

Sorry to report that Symantec antivirus on my Mac (running OS 10.5
Leopard) says that this file is infected, and offers to repair it. The
repair is successful.

Thanks for the alert. Scanning the zip file here with AVG, it doesn't
find anything. I wonder what Symantec is seeing that it doesn't like...

I did a bit more checking. Downloaded the zip file myself from the
Google site and scanned that copy. Still nothing detected. And my
computer checks out clean of any virus. As far as I can tell, it's
just a false alarm from Symantec. If any others of you run into virus
alerts, please let me know.

Hi all,

This virus problem is now solved. I thought I had reported this to the
list last month but don't find the email anywhere, so I'll try again.
When I downloaded the zip file once last month, about April 22, my virus
scanner detected the virus that Rand had reported. It turned out to be a
little virus simulation program that had been used in our class to check
students' computers for vulnerability to thumb drive viruses. No danger
at all - not a real virus. But I've removed it now from the zip file
posted on the Google Group site, so you should be able to download the
file without complaints from your virus scanners.
