Opening AdvancedDataGrid trees

I am having trouble getting the recorder to record the opening of a
tree in an ADG. I can open it programatically with the expandAll()
function but I need the "opening" event to be fired in this case. Only
visible data is loaded and then more is loaded when the tree opens.
When I use expandAll() the trees open but the event is not fired so
they are empty because the new data does not load.
Has anyone had any success with this?
