Many thanks to all who have tried out the FieldWorks 8.3.1 Beta 1.  We have gotten a lot of good feedback, both about new features that you really love, and also about areas that still need adjusting.

We have now fixed several of the most significant issues that were reported about the Beta 1.  In particular, we have addressed the problem with "unspec. var." appearing where it shouldn't, and we have tried to address all the problems with older projects not opening.  There are other known issues we will continue to work on, but we wanted to get a new Beta version out as soon as possible to address the most significant problems.  If you are using FW 8.3.1 Beta 1, we strongly encourage you to upgrade.

FieldWorks 8.3.2 Beta 2 is now ready for download.

NOTE: This version includes a model change relative to FW 8.3.1 Beta 1.

Full details are available at

including bug fixes since the previous Beta and details about compatibility with other versions.

Please send feedback to FLEx_...@sil.org.

Beth,

I'm about to start a field methods class, which will likely involve heavy amounts of collaboration. I'm sure there will be bumps to navigate along the way, but I'd like to get one out of the way to start: What version(s) should I ask Windows(R) users to install, in order to maximize our interoperability, and minimize known bugs?

Thanks and Grace,

Kent
