Writing system for Refernce field

I'm a little puzzled by the default writing-system used for the Reference field on Examples.

The documentation says it should default to my top/default analysis writing-system, but my default analysis writing-system is Portugese (I'm using the demo sena 3 project) and it's actually defaulting to English. Could it be that it actually explicitily defaults to English, like the Source field on Senses apparently does?

Reference field documentation:

"If you insert an example manually, this field defaults to the top (default) analysis writing system."

(I'm inserting them manually)

Source field documentation:

"It defaults to the English writing system, even if English is not the default (top) analysis writing system."

It does indeed seem to be as you state - that the Reference field does not default to the top analysis writing system when entering examples manually (and thus typing into the Reference field). I don't know if it defaults to English, or the second listed analysis writing system - I didn't test that far. 

Maybe flex_...@sil.org can clarify the last part and / or update the documentation?

The Reference field is a String field with no inherent writing system, but it does allow embedded writing systems and styles. I would assume it should use the top analysis writing system, but it looks like it does use English. I suspect it may use the default Windows writing system, but not sure.

 

Yes, Source field on sense is also a String and works the same way.

 

I’ll make a JIRA issue to fix this.
