Hi all!

I have a question.

In my project, some words in the "Texts & Words" area are marked for Spelling Status as Correct.

Now I would like this information to appear in the lexicon. So that we know which words are already orthographically corrected and which are not.

For example: the word gurna appears in a text and is marked as Correct. How to import automatically (not manually please) this information in the lexicon. For example, in the field status the value correct would appear.

Any idea?

I think it would be a helpful feature that the spell information in the Texts & Words area could be automatically imported in the lexicon. It would help to improve the orthographic quality of the lexicon.

Thanks.

Greetings

John

Hi, John.

What I am understanding you to be wanting is not as straightforward as you might think, at least not for some languages. Entries in the lexicon are "building blocks" (typically morphemes), while those in Texts & Words are words—combinations of items from the lexicon—so there is not necessarily a one-to-one correspondence.

Best wishes,
Kevin

In Fieldworks, the Citation Form field assumes that it contains complete words, so spell checking works in them. This would require you to copy all lexemes into the citation form (assuming that in this language there is no difference), but except for this extra step there should not be any negative consequence of doing so.
As far as I can see, it is not possible to change the spell checking status of a word in the lexicon, but you can see it.

Andreas, I think John is asking about seeing the spelling status, not changing it. So if you have some suggestions for how to see the spelling status, please share them here.

Compare this entry
with that entry:
The difference between them is that I marked the word ፈለገ in the Texts&Words area as "correct", whereas I didn't mark that for ጠየቀ. This is why the citation-form shows with the red squiggles for ጠየቀ, but nor for ፈለገ. If you now filter the headword column on spelling errors, ጠየቀ is included, but ፈለገ is not.
