Looking for help identifying a character

Can anyone help me identify this character?  I'm not finding it anywhere.  I don't know if it was something that was a standard or if it was a custom character made specifically for one book.

I looked through the Unicode upper case characters, doesn't look like this one is there.  It's possible to request characters be added to Unicode; they require documentation of use, IIRC, and this book would be such documentation--I don't know whether they would want further examples, i.e. proof that it wasn't a one-off for this book.

FWIW, the lower case equivalent is rather indistinct from the lower case 'a'.

Yea, the lowercase a was just made a little "fatter" at the top.  Thanks for the info! :)
