A colleague asked me today:
"I'm looking for some advice. One of the things that we want to do is
to give the responsibility of up keeping the Pijin spelling guide to
the government. So I am working with the non-formal education office
on this. What I would like to do is find some software and train some
nationals in the government to use it to properly add / adjust the
spelling guide as needed. The spelling guide is not a dictionary.
Maybe someday, years down the road, it will be but for the near future
it will be just a spelling guide. Do you have any recommendations on
what software we could possibly use for this?"
The "Pijin spelling guide" is quite basic. Each entry is a headword,
part of speech, and gloss (rarely more than one word). There are a
fair number of entries with multiple senses. Nothing fancy, just a
tool to contribute to consistency of spelling. What software would you
recommend for such a project? I'm aware of FLEx, ToolBox and Lexique
Pro (though I wouldn't know which of these to recommend--each has its
merits and demerits). Are there others? Looking forward to your
responses,

The one you're missing is WeSay. See www.wesay.org

WeSay would probably be very suitable for this purpose.
