Hello

I have successfully installed pathway with FLEx 8 and I would like to
do a printout of a classified dictionary with it.

Is this possible?

If not what are the alternatives? LexiquePro?

Regards

Lexique Pro supports printing a classified dictionary. But I haven't used it
recently.

I haven't used Pathway to do print a Classified Dictionary; I'm not sure it's possible... As a test I just selected Classified Dictionary view in FLEx, went File > Export and chose "Dictionary, Reversal Index" (the Pathway option), but still got a Configured Dictionary rather than a Classified one. It looks like the only way to print a Classified Dictionary is to use File > Export and choose "Classified Dictionary". This creates an XHTML file that can be opened in a browser (e.g., Firefox, Internet Explorer) and printed from there. There seems to be a fair bit of white space, however; mine went to 369 pages.

I'm just poking around for a solution, though. I'm sure there are others here who know more about this than me!

Thank you for directing me to the XHTML Classified Dictionary export
option. Yes it has a lot of white space. We'll have to do multiple
columns with XHTML.

Something with inserting

<div style="column-count: 2; -moz-column-count: 2">
.....
</div>

with a text editing program like NotePad ++
( http://portableapps.com/apps/development/notepadpp_portable )

I have not tried it yet. Page break might be an issue.

Hannes,

I did use Pathway to create Thesaurus type output using an XSLT on the Fieldworks Classified Dictionary output and Libre Office. The XSLT added the reverse index that links word forms back to their categories. Libre Office includes a Table of Contents of the Categories at the beginning linked to each category with it's entries. Let me know if it sounds interesting. I was exploring this as a future output destination of Pathway but would need some user feedback to perfect it.
