We have a group that has over 2000 recordings of their last fluent speaker, and they're wondering about using FLEx for the task.

Would it be smart to create 2000 texts in FLEx, with each recording linked to a recording (using the Copy-to-Project option for the files)?

Rather than shoe-horn it them into FLEx, may I recommend you try out SayMore, FLEx’s companion tool that is designed to do exactly that kind of thing.  If you later transcribe any of those texts, SayMore will help you do it in a time-aligned way, and then export a “FLExText” for interlinearizing in FLEx.

I have added a page to the FieldWorks website to list the excellent
companion tools. Please let me know if I missed one. (There are so
many it is quite possible.)
