FYI: I sent this email to all Webonary account holders:
Dictionary & Lexicography Services is delighted that you have chosen to publish your lexical data on Webonary.org. However, we have some concerns.
Recently, Webonary and SIL International have run into a problem concerning images that were added to entries in FLEx and then uploaded to Webonary. A dictionary compiler chose to use a picture obtained from the Internet without permission from the owner of the image. This resulted in a legal action against SIL for copyright infringement and SIL was required to pay a financial settlement.
In response to this unfortunate event, SIL has enhanced the picture object in FLEx to allow for additional information about embedded pictures—copyright, credits, and licensure details. In the future, SIL may be obligated to exclude pictures without these details from upload to Webonary.
Download the latest version of FLEx to take advantage of this new feature, https://software.sil.org/fieldworks/download/fw-91/fw-9122/.

Above is an image of the new Picture Properties dialog box in FLEx, with the Credit, Copyright, and License dialog box opened to show where copyright and license details can be specified. Three pieces of information are essential: Copyright Year, Copyright Holder, and License details. Please add these details to each picture that you wish to have published on Webonary.

Hi Verna,
Could a field be added that would show the Copyright status in the Entry view (e.g. Public Domain, Personal, Copyright holder, Incomplete reference, etc)?
Thanks,
Gary

Bloom has this feature built in. (You only have to enter the information once, and you are given the option to copy the IP information to all other images lacking such information) Maybe the Flex/webonary team could talk to the Bloom team about sharing this code?

Subject: [FLEx] Re: Pictures on Webonary.org
Since this came out I have learned that you can bulk edit the author/copyright information in an image using a tool like AnalogExif download | SourceForge.net (there are probably others). I had to edit the properties of one image (In Windows, it's a matter of right click, select properties, select details, and edit Author/copyright information). And then using AnalogExif, I could highlight a bunch of images that would have the same information, and then tell the application to copy from the source image.
What I don't know how to do is bulk edit the files to where FLEx sees the CC BY-ND 4.0 (or whatever is your preference) and not append all rights reserved to it. if I add CC BY-ND 4.0 to the copyright line in the image properties, FLEx will append all rights reserved.

I welcome this enhancement of FLEx.
I've opened my lexicon with 9.1.22 and note that existing Pictures are now assigned by default to Public Domain, i.e. CC0 1.0 'No Copyright'. So I now need to amend this for each picture (most of mine are CC BY-NC-ND 4.0),.and of course I need to add Creator and Copyright information for each. As it happens the required additional information is uniform across several subsets of dozens of Pictures.
As far as I can tell, Bulk Edit doesn't have access to these fields, and so I will have to manually edit the attributes of each Picture, one by one. Is this true?
I suppose an alternative might be to make global replacements in the .fwdata XML file, but having peeked in it I don't think that's an option for me.
Are there other possibilities?

Beth,
I have no way to dispute that the code from Bloom was or was not used in the newest version of Flex, but Flex and Bloom do not work the same on how info on images are entered. Maybe it is because Flex assigns “Public Domain” status to all images with no metadata. I am having to enter IP information for every image from SIL Mozambique’s collection. On the positive side Flex did a nice job of entering IP information for all my images from the Art of Reading collection.
