S/R failing with upgrade to FW8.2.5 on Windows

We’re really sorry we left this problem slip through our testing process, but if you upgrade to FieldWorks 8.2.5 you’ll discover that Send/Receive no longer works. We’ll be putting out a fix to this as soon as we can, but in the meantime there are two ways you can work around this problem.

 

First, if you have not yet upgraded to FW8.2.5, before upgrading, go to Control Panel…Programs and Features, right-click FLEx Bridge and Uninstall. After that you should be able to upgrade to FW8.2.5 without a problem.

 

Second, if you have already upgraded to FW8.2.5, go to Control Panel…Programs and Features, right-click FLEx Bridge and Uninstall. Then go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SIL\FieldWorks 8\Installers, double-click FLExBridgeInstaller.msi and let it install FLEx Bridge. After that, S/R should work fine.

 

This problem should not affect Linux users.

There is a simpler way to fix the problem after installing FW8.2.5. Go to Control Panel…Programs and Features, right-click FLExBridge and choose Repair. This will work as well as uninstalling and reinstalling FLExBridge
