In this other thread I'm exploring using the XHTML export to create a dictionary in a currently unsupported format (Stardict). But I see that in the XHTML, punctuation that is added through the configuration setup is done using css instead of actually being included as text.

So, for example something like this:

(unspec. var. පහලොහො, පහළොහ, පාළොහ inf. පහලොහක් lit. var. පසළොස, පහළව) cardnum {col.} fifteen

Ends up just being

පහළොවunspec. var.පහලොහොපහළොහපාළොහinf.පහලොහක්lit. var.පසළොසපහළවcardnumcol.fifteen

because the (), {}, commas, and even spaces are all done through css content properties. Now, I can understand why within FLEx it may make sense to keep things simple. But this problem exists even in Webonary. That means that someone using the dictionary for study can't copy and past a definition into their notes for later reference without having to manually add in all the missing punctuation.

I realize this isn't a simple matter to resolve. I'm just curious if it's on the radar. Or if there is something I'm missing or doing wrong.

PS: Yes, Sinhala really does have six variations for the number fifteen, lol

Hello B Kh,

I put your question to my advisor, and I see some possible nuggets there ... have a look.

Bart.
