We had the same error recently, and we were also proceeding as before. In our case, the problem was fixed by renaming the top-level tier to "(something)-segnum-en". "segnum" is the flextext type enough stores sentence numbers for each sentence. ("en" is assuming that your default analysis writing system is English).
It seems that the import is now checking for exactly this type, while previously it could have different names in the incoming flextext.
