The kind of dictionary that I am working on more often than not requires providing the pronunciations of source forms in the Etymology field as we need to trace phonological changes in words while their orthographic forms remain more or less the same. The phenomenon of changes between falling and rising tones was common in Old Manipuri and Middle Manipuri, which is rare or non-existent in later Manipuri. The discontinuation of the tone change has led to a widespread misperception that many words of morphological co-origins with different tones in the current speech have nothing morphologically to do with each other. This has necessitated our dictionary to trace tone changes as well, which are best mapped in the etymology field.

Hence my request: Could FieldWorks developers consider this special requirement and add a pronunciation field for Source Form along with a comment field each before and after the proposed pronunciation field?

Best regards,
