allright so here is my current status...
I`ve also worked with Flex since version one and actually started
my "programming" career with Flash 4. Haven`t done any serious
html work since 2002! I have to say coming back to this world does
not feels as bad as i would have thought :-)
So the first question i`m trying to work out is what`s the best editor
for me. I started with Webstorm but i`m not quite feeling it yet.
I also use Dreamweaver (yeah yeah yeah) a lot. I had mixed feelings
about
it as it generally does not get good reputation but there are some
things
i really like. The JQuery syntax completion, the webkit integration...
nice stuff.
Not sure yet if it will become my editor of choice but for small
experiments i like it.
Kind of strange if you think about how Flex started as a Dreamweaver
extension and
now i`m back right there :-) Heck i`m even thinking about an iPhone as
my next phone
and this after i made this blog post
http://richapps.de/?p=269 ;-)
Times are changing...
Ok so i`m currently in the play state where i just read a lot of books
and try a lot of things.
Currently on my list is CoffeeScript - even if you don`t like it i
think it makes sense to learn
it a bit as a lot of libraries are written in it so i think it makes
sense to at least understand the sytax.
Then i`m checking out MVC frameworks. Currently my favorite is
backbone.js but that`s probably only
cause i`ve spend most time with it. I like that it gives you complete
freedom of how you render your views.
I plan to take a deeper look at angular, knockout and JavaScriptMVC as
well.
Other than that i love playing with CSS3 transitions and
transformations. Some really cool stuff you can do there
(if you target the right browsers :-))
My day job is still 100% flash platform stuff for
parleys.com. There
we have a desktop AIR video editor, a website,
android/ipad tablet apps an embeddable share client, a desktop
client... Replacing all this stuff with html5/css is quite a challenge
but the signals are already clear that my client wants that even if
this means sacrificing some (or lot`s of) features.
So for me it`s not a question if i will do a lot of HTML/JS/CSS work
it`s only about how to make it work.
Especially video is a big pain for us...
Oh yeah lot´s of challenges but as Flash ninjas nobody loves and knows
to work around limitations better than us right!
Allright that`s the current status - i`ll try to start soe more
specific discussions later (i think stuff like books, editors,
frameworks...)
