We invite you to join us for a briefing below with the Founding Co-Chairmen and Professors of the first and only private university in the DPRK (North Korea), Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST), to learn how higher education is used as a vehicle for engaging people of the DPRK and how you can get involved.

The DPRK is often portrayed as a closed-off and isolated “Hermit Kingdom”; however, since the famines struck in the mid-1990’s, the DPRK has opened their doors to a wide group of non-governmental organizations, including academic institutions. In the Fall of 2010, Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST) welcomed its inaugural class taught solely in English. Since then, PUST has paved the way for education diplomacy with the DPRK. PUST currently offers undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture and life sciences, international finance and management, electrical and computer engineering, and foreign languages. This year PUST plans to offer public health and dental programs to graduate students and DPRK medical professionals. A short Q&A session will follow.
